Maybe we have been wrong in assuming that just because it has Su-35-style fins, it also has the integral tanks ?? Maybe they are only the aerodynamic shapes inherited from the Su-35 ???

Aerodynamic? That wouldn’t explain why the J-10, Jh-7, FC-1 all have large tail fins also. I don’t think it’s for cosmetic reasons. Why ask for change in the tail design from the basic 30s to the 35s with none of its benefits?

When China got first ordered their first Su-27. They specially asked the makers to strengthen the landing gears and structure, so that it could accomodate more fuel capacity. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that their MKK got the 35s tail fin. That booklet you have may be wrong.

So the MKI is the best in the world now? Has it done anything besides flying at airshows to prove itself? I’ll hold off claims about the MKI until I actually see even a tenth of what it claims to be able to do.

As far as the best Air Force. I’ll go with Sweden. Saabs designs are uniquely their own. It’s not Russian or American. Plus they popularized the tailess canarded deltas.

How can you determine the FC-1’s performance when its first flight was not even a year ago?

70% performance of the F-16. How was this measured? Comparing pictures?

BTW, SD-10, The last picture you show is clearly of the SAAB Gripen.

The war in 79′ for the chinese, was more about emotional release then anything else.

China, has not been China for a very long time. Starting with the take over by the Manchu, then the Opium wars in the 19th century. The once shiny Chinese symbol has been covered in dust.

Japan adopted western culture and came close to conquering China. Korea had been split in two with the South looking towards the US for a role model. And the North looking at the Soviets for theirs. They had thought Vietnam could still be under Chinese influence. But they were wrong. Economically and technologically, China was nowhere near the Soviets. So it would not have made sense for the Vietnamese to follow the Chinese (Mao) model rather then the Soviets.

The official reason was to help out the Ongka (Khmer Reds). But the truth was that China felt all alone. Like old man left on his own, he starts breaking dishes and funiture out of fustration. I don’t think the war in 79 was personal. It was just out of fustration of what China had become.

This diminished view point still affects the Chinese today. And unfortunately, the Japanese are baring the brunt of it.

All the sinophobes can relax. The carrier doesn’t actually work. It’s just repainted nicely to draw in the gambling addicts.

BTW, does anyone have pictures of the restored Minsk?

How about neither? The Russians were fools to get themselves involved in that area. But they only did it because the ex-colonialist side with the Isrealis. Hey! Whatever helps get the Jews out of Euroland right?

A little politics in an aviation forum never hurts.

I’ve never been a moralist, so I’m not going to get into a debate about who’s nukes are more destablizing. Being from the Good ole’ US of A, the only country to have ever used Nukes in war. I don’t feel I have the right to pass judgement on who gets to have nukes and who doesn’t. If the US has it, They have no right claiming someone else will use it for “evil”.

As far as the Isreali/Palistine issue goes. This is a war that’s been going on way before the UN. It’s foolish to think some outsider will come in and fix the problem. The British colonialist couldn’t do it, The Ancient Romans and Assyrians couldn’t. What makes us think anyone else can?

It all stems from the idea of borders and boundries. I side with the Marxist on this issue. Boundries causes war.period. If they want to really solve this issue. They need to get rid of the idea of Isreal and Palistine. Get rid of the governments. Go back to living by communial law, where the family is your country. Don’t worry about where your neighbors live just worry about yourself.

After all, how do you define borders from a nomadic peoples like the Bedoin and Jews?
