Bump!
Ha!
I recently got a DVD of footage taken by Norman Gobey a bank manager at Burnham on sea in the 1930’s, he was well known about the town as a film maker. There’s footage of Burnham’s Home Guard, Carnival, Coronation celebrations and Cobhams Air Circus visiting Weston Super Mare in 1935 which according to my Mum (89) she visited… 😉
From what I’ve seen, todays Heath & Safety would have had a field day… 😀
Bruce, Elliott you have mail… 😉
Stu…
Thank you Anne, you certainly know about prop’s… May I ask how/why are you in possession of such detailed knowledge of propellers?
I’ve passed the wealth of information over to Matt who no doubt will be very pleased with it all… 😉
I on the other hand am frightened…
Thanks again
Stuart…
Ha !
Well I did think it was a strange request, you sure you got the name of the series right?
******!
It’s never easy is it, got to fight tooth & nail to glean just a tiny bit…:p
Hmmm… Would the present Dunlop have any info on their war wheels?
Thanks for the info Jeepman, though I would be lying if I said it made my day finding that out… ;):D
Stu…
Hi Tony…
Any idea what other aircraft used the AH. 10110 as well as the Whirly?
Tony your a Star, thank you so much, don’t suppose you’ve got a AH. 10110 tucked away in that Aladins cave of your’s?
Then the tyre issues can be put to bed, done and dusted…
Stu…
Tony you beautiful man… 😀
Wonderful, just a couple things we need a tad clearer though Tony… 😮
I know call me an awkward ###### but we need to get it spot on, I’ve marked the bits we need to get a lot sharper to make out the detail…
Thank you for your time mate… 😉
This is the sort of detailing we’re after…
This tail wheel is from a Hurricane
Sorry chaps, been a bit manic at work lately and have not had the time to get around to answering anyone as I’ve been completly cream crackered… 😮
Still, does anyone have a copy of AP.1538 Vol. I cause apparently it has something about the DH 4/4 Variable Pitch Airscrew… If you do have a copy can you see what exactly it has about it please!
And going back to the tyres here the details from the P’s N’s…
We are stuck at the moment for any information that shows what was stamped of the tyres, again are the Dunlop tyres used on any other aircraft and would be worth giving Dunlop a bell?
Hi Chaps
It’s Mk I’s we need the info on, Matt our CGI artist is working on a 3D build of the Whirlwind, he’s a commercial artist by profession and you can tell from the detail of the WIP’s he shown me, nothing is being left out.
That’s why we’re asking for the extreme levels of detail. We need to be very close up and personal with everything about the cannons. We need to get very hi-res images of surviving Mk 1’s Hispano Cannons, Right down to nut & bolt lever, even down to works markings, and type numbers…
I can’t stress enough the importance of getting information to this level.
Unfortunately the Whirlwind Mk 1 had an additional muzzle flash diffuser at the tip that only appeared on the Whirlwind.
That is unless you know different?
The same problem goes for the tyres we know the make, we know the type, we know the tyre pressure, but we haven’t a clue what was embossed on the tyres…
Ian, Alan and Paul, thank you all for your help. It’s very much appreciated.
Ian & Alan would you have a contact number or email you could pass on to us please, many thanks again…
Paul, again thanks for helping with this info, could I ask you for some Hi-Scans if they would take them please…
Also the RAAF Museum at Pt. Cook have a couple, including one that is a cutaway. I can’t remember what Mk it is though. If needs be let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
I’ll see what we can turn up over here before we ask you to go on any recc missions Paul…;)
Stu…
D’oh! I haven’t seen any…
You’ve got a PM…;)
