I can appreciate the need for moderators. However, I do think sometimes our man could have given the late Mary Whitehouse a run for her money!

I accept that sometimes posts/threads have to be removed and I for one enjoy using this forum, so I abide by the rules. We are only human though and sometimes we get a bit carried away with our posts. I dont think there is anything wrong in that. We are all passionate about aviation and want to have our say, forcefully sometimes!

If BMed were given LHR-Lima they would use the A320! That airline treats the 320 as though it were an intercontinental long-hauler. I mean Tehran, Khartoum, they want to stick to flying them no further than Beirut!

I know that. I happen to think BA ought to serve more of its ex-colonies though! Freetown, Banjul, Georgetown should def be served!

I am not here to discuss politics, but aviation. However, I expressed my suprise at JAT going for Boeing and not Airbus, as every prospective EU countrys national carrier has ordered Airbus and Turkey which is desperate to join the EU has just purchased a fleet of narrow-body airbus alongside operating similar capacity fleet of NG737!

However much you dislike it. Politics does impinge on the airline industry. It is widely recognised that the Turkish national carrier placed a large order with Airbus as it believed it would help its case for EU membership.

In the 70s, BEA/BA were subject to much political pressure which often dictated the make-up of their fleet. They would have prefered the 7372 but were made to go for the Trident and 1-11. Also BY was pressured to take the 1-11 but stood firm and ordered the 732, despite much political inteference.

History tells us politics plays a part in aviation, so check the facts.

Please dont tell me not to post just because we differ in our viewpoints. You dont have the right to do that. This forums should thrive on differences of opinion. The place would be boring if we all felt the same!

But its relevant LBA. THY wanted needed those 320s about as much as BA wanted the Tridents. Politics does creep into aviation you know!

Jat chose the 737 for fleet comonality and on the merits of the aircraft and not as TK did just to butter up the EU!

I agree, perhaps Serbia isnt as keen to get into the EU as Turkey is! We all know why THY suddenly purchased 320 family when they have always favoured the 737 family! It stinks, in fact Brussels and the whole of the EU stinks. Oh. well Peter Mandelson is there now, so they will be no more dodgy dealings, NOT!

Good news but I would have rather seen Jat take some 737-6s or 7377s as I think an all 738 fleet could be a little too much capacity for some of the less busy European routes.
