hmm, why invade at all?
find someone in africa badly in need of a friend, zimbabway (spelling) comes into mind.
send advisors and equipment over and encourage him to take on some of his weaker neigbours and have him do all the fighting and dirty work for you. when you feel that enough territory has been taken and that the patients of the world is about to be exhausted by all the expansionist activities, secretly convince zimbabway to invade one last nation but use that as a ‘last straw’ excuse to distance yourself from zimbabway by pulling out all advisors and stopping all military shipments.
wait a while, while zimbabway wears iself out and choose the most advantagious time to send in your troops as ‘peacekeepers’ to take control of zimbabway and all the territory it has occupied while at the same time recieving international praise and funding.
use racial tensions as an exuses to keep your troops there and start to invest in the territories now under you control to win hearts and minds. and use investment as an excuses to sned in large numbers of your own nationals. at the same time allow and even encourage revrse immigration of the local peoples to your country. couple that with subtle re-education and in a few years you would have effectively assimulated those terriotories.
once you are confident that your supporters are in the majority, stage a referandum to ask the people if they would like to join the ‘russian federation’ (or whatever name you like) to formalise your sovereignty over the territories.
simple…
hmm…were the first two any good?
hmm, strange the picture didnt load. J11 picture, take two.
there’s also something interesting about that J11 in that the forward section of the canopy has a gold colour. perhaps this is the first evidence that signiture reduction techniques are being applied to the J11, and if that is the case, then i would be very suprised if the SR measures stopped at merely changing the front canopy.
here’s another pic of that J11 with a better view of the nozzles.
very impressive film, glade that for once holywood decided to do a war film that is more in touch with real life as opposed to the usual ‘good guys v the bad guys’ rubbish.
i have to say the troy is now in my top ten favourate films list. 😀
oh dear…well at least he had the sense to start running after the first missile launch or else he might have become the first man to bring down an ac ‘bird strike’ style. 😮
cool, VERY advanced for a mud mover. but then i guess the scorpion will also take on alont of the percision strike roles. impressive. how much does the upgraded su25 cost?
10 seconds is about all that most J-10 or other Chinese super-weapon threads deserve given all the unverifiable tertiary and hear-say source materials that are quoted as gospel. Good luck with your Great Leap Forward into “super powerhood”.
“I especially wish you and your nation success on the LCA. It was one of my favorite planes in the mid-90s (like all projects outside the bland circle dominated by the primaries) but it has since become a rallying cry, at least on the web, for those blinded by nationalistic jealousy and a stupid, misplaced sense of rivalry.”
Thank you for your best wishes for “my” nation and “my” LCA. If it fails or suceeds, I will know about it in great detail since it will be on TV in the papers. Too bad you can’t say the same.
BTW, have you guys seen the specs for the J-45? Kanwa says it will have a disruptor ray. Also, CTV had a two second clip on its news of US companies talking to people of Chinese origin at an arms exhibit in some-obscure-place in China. This probably means that it will be armed with the next generation follow-up to the AMRAAM as well as American engines and avionics. Since China has an embassy in Israel, an Israeli connection cannot be discounted. It will only cost $10 million, since Chinese manufacturers are so efficient, and China will order a hundred thousand of them. In honour of Chinese aviation tradition, it will look almost exactly like a Mig-21.
blimy, where did all the grumpy 10 year olds come from?
guess it takes more brainpower then i realised to be able to filter out the blatantly obvious crap.
i guess you also believe the internet stories about how the ‘evil reds’ are secretly developing post nuclear superweapons to wipe out all life and earth and have been secretly amassing troops and equipment in the CONUS over the past decade and is ready to take over the ‘free’ world any minute now. better start stocking that nuclear shelter your daddy bought you for xmas. 😀
impressive…so you a big hit with the neigbours? 😀
oh boy…. its one thing to use a flight sim to teach test pilots on the basic flight charateritics of the typhoon so that they get to familiaries themselves with the flight charateristics, and being able to use a flight sim to train fully qualified combat pilots.
flight sims might have improved massively over the years, and can now be used to cover alot of the flight silobus that was once done with real planes, but they are still a long way off from being able to train fighter pilots completely by themselves.
the current trend of using sims developed not because the simulator is just as good or better then the real thing, but because it is alot cheaper and safer.
alot of the bair basics are now taught on simulators becuase thats the most cost effective way. but all the advanced stuff simply not only has to be tried but also constantly practiced on the real thing for pilots to keep at their peak.
sure, pilots might go through the advanced moves on the sim before they do it for real, buts thats mainly to save costs and to improve on safety. in the end they have to go out and fly the moves in the planes for real before they can be classed as qualified.
BVR missile training is one of the few feilds where simulators excel, but at WVR simulators of today are simply carp at simulating the real experience. there is just no way of simulating the high Gs and random rocking and vibration of the plane as it flies through the air doing aggressive manovers. and WVR combat with the flanker is what the USAF is interested in.
as for computer AI. well anyone who has played a computer game well tell you that its one experience fighting against the computer controled ‘bots’ and totally a different kettle of fish fighting against a real live person on the net. there is just no substitute for man on man combat training other then going up against another man.
most of today’s combat flight sims also offers the ability for large numbers of opporators to connect in one training session, but again the limitations of the simulators comes into play.
just go an ask any fighter pilot in any AF around the world which they prefer, a flight sime or the real thing and there will always only be the same answer.
Edisone, why to fly some Su-27 at Groom Lake? All the data are computed.
Every pilot can fly it in a sim-dome. “Agressor F-18” can be flown in a multi-bogey scenaro to learn the g-forces and different characters too. The max. aerodynamic capabilities were show by top Russian pilots before. The X-31 added some more. Introducing more and more all aspect AAMs, what do you understand by the old term “dogfight”?
well why fly a plane at all when you have simulators?
as of now, nothing can truely simulate the experience of flying in a real ac, or against another real ac.
It is interesting that only a few months ago the Red Brigade entrail scryers over here were screaming in rage whenever anybody mentioned J-10 and Lavi in the same sentence, yet now many of the same diviners are making the link J-10-Lavi-F16. Sword or shield at their will. It just goes to prove that one audited statement on the LCA tabled in parliament is worth more than all the photoshop-induced, science fiction thus far written on the J-10. Everybody writes on the J-10 and Chinese products here since anybody can anything on it. Reality is not an issue. We already know the quality of many of the guesses resulting from US analysis of the USSR. Now people are doing the same for China.
…Anybody who says Super-power and China in the same sentence, without smirking or laughing, is either a pimply teenager from Shanghai or a representative of the US arms industry trying to justify the next generation of super-weapons. BTW, you are aware that Napoleon was being sarcastic when he spoke about China?
“yet now many of the same diviners are making the link J-10-Lavi-F16”
and in which one of your dreams did this appear in?
“It just goes to prove that one audited statement on the LCA tabled in parliament is worth more than all the photoshop-induced, science fiction thus far written on the J-10. “
lol, obviously the statement of someone who has spent about 10 seconds skiming the odd J10 thread to find something to back up his own groundless theories. with the J10, like many other chinese ac, all the information isnt gathered together and put on a plate for you. you have to go out and look for bits and bobs here and there and peice them together, and thats a big part of the facination. dont bash something just beacuse you are too lazy to find out enough about it.
“Anybody who says Super-power and China in the same sentence, without smirking or laughing either a pimply teenager from Shanghai or a representative of the US arms industry trying to justify the next generation of super-weapons. “
lol, what? getting frustrated that no-one even associates another country in the region with the term ‘super-power’? a major case of sour grapes i see.
hey, i just noticed that they canopy is missing of these last two shots of ’01’, what gives?
modest CG work and a poor PS finishing.
does this really deserve to be posted?
if you must post it, then use the old JH7 thead that’s disappeared to the second or third page.
psst, its not just the ‘evil commies’ that endulge in such activities you know. 😉
most likely someone not paying attention to a TV documentry or a screenshot from a TV programme being reposted elsewhere without the associated comments.
there is zero point in a government actively engaging in such a ‘scam’ as the only ppl these scams can fool arent worth fooling to begin with.
