there are lots of reasons why china would probably choose russian stuff before anyone else’s, but then there is also some disadvanatges of buying only russian weapons.

firstly, the chinese have started to show increasing furstration over the russians’ reluctance to clear their best equipment for sale to china, and since the russians have a near monopoly on imported weapons sales to china, there is little china can do but buy what they choose to offer.

the monopoly also allow the russians to sale their products at a slightly higher price then to other nations who have access to western weapons.

the PLA is probably also not too impressed with the russians displaying the MKK all over the world and selling slightly different versons to anyone who is willing to buy it.

then of course, there is also the fact that the russians are some way behind europe and the US in terms of electronics.

the way i see it, the chinese attempt to left the EU embargo is more to do with opening up competion so try and force the russians’ hand and also to open up the US high technology markets as much as truely meaning to buy weapons from the EU.

but in order to give the EU enough reaons to lift the embargo, it is very likely that china must have secretly made a commitment to france and germany and maybe even britain to sign significant weapons contracts with them if they help to lift the embargo. we’re not talking about the provious patten of buying small number of key components, but whole systems, and lots of them.

ToT will probably be part of the deal, but the chinese will most likely also promise not to copy or sell the systems off to thrid parties without permission. (like with the Z9).

well, there were the other caveman variaty with the bigger foreheads (for the life of me, i cant remeber their names :() that died out.

as for gills, well evolutions tends to be very stinchy. it doesnt give u anything u dont use on a regular basis. just take muscles for example, if u dont keep excersising then ur muscles well start to shrink. ppl who have been in comas for long periods of time even loose their ability to walk or even sit or stand up!

a better example would be ur appendix. it was left over from a period when humans grazed on grass and leaves just like cattle. but as our diet changed, we no longer used it and over the generations, it has now become nothing but a piece of useless flesh, and will most likely disappear altogether in the future. (unless we all convert to vegies that is 😉 )

whats so good about birds? all the do is quack and eat and poop. t least a cat is sociable, and can be loyal if u treat it well.

dont think there is such a thing as warp speed in the real universe, maybe trekies will disagree, but then they are from another nuniverse themselves.;)

there u are, going about ur own business, when u see a light in the sky, u get curious and stop to see what it is, but cant cos its too far away and, well its juat a ball of light…

as it gets closer, detail starts to emerge, with a round outline and what appears to be two massive light projecting devices in the front of it…

as the object becomes clearer, it also gets better, and closer, u think of getting out of the way, but just as ur legs start to move ur boby…splash…giant wippers slowly wipe the remains to the side while the creature piloting the strange vehical says: ‘ @~”£$&$%&@@~’ which roughly translated to :’ooo son, did u see how that one’s head came right off!’…;)
