lets get sth straight shall we? taiwan was an issue created by america’s intent to ‘contain’ china. the US did not suddenly decide to contain china because of taiwan, and so it makes zero sense to be using a means of contenment as a justification for that containment strategy.

of course every nation on earth is out to look out for No1. but there are limitations and bunderies as to how far u can do that, if for nothing more then common sense that other ppl can only take so much before pushing back.

right now the US doesnt want china to take taiwan by force for a number of reasons, humanitarian included, but what it has not taken into account, and is only recently becoming aware is that china is not the side that is most likely to start a conflict between the straits.

ever since the early 90s, successive taiwanese polititions have taken advanatge of america’s ‘umbrella’ to kick china in the shins and then go running back and hiding behind the US, and is growing bolder by the minute.

if the US does not address tjis problem, then sooner or later, taiwan will kick harder then china is willing to take, and the US will be cught squarely in the middle.

even if it did, i dount that the pilot would have had the luxury of time to take notice of it. it was most likely calculated based on the stress put on the airframe.

when was the last time the british or french created a made believe ‘threat’ so that they can get more funding for their military?

they tell their ppl the truth, that is they need a strong military to help maintain stability and protect their vital interests.

the question is why doesnt the US do the same? are u suggesting that the average american is more short-sighted then the average european?:rolleyes: i hope not, cos thats not true.

the real reason is because the american government is spending far more on the military then can be justified as in order to ‘maintain stability and protect US vital interests’. there are many reasons for that, and apparently the US government has deemed it in their best interest that the american ppl do not know them, hence the need for bogyman after bogyman.

as far as the ‘joke’ bit is concerned, well i guess some ppl must be getting pretty desperate for jokes to considered china putting some long overdue investment into its military as funny.:rolleyes:
