the ppl on sky news claim that there may be up to 20 Al-Q cells in the UK, and more in other european nations. looks like Al-Q has been busy putting their pieves in place while we have been distracted by other events. only hope the security forces wise up and get these sccumbags before they have another chance to murder inoocnet ppl.:(
why cant the penguines get to bat?:(

i never ment any disrespect to the ppl caught up in this senselss and terrible act. however i do not see it as inapporopriate to try to find out who is to blame.
in fact i feel that it would be more constructive then to just report the latest counts of how many innocents have been lost and venting anger at the first name to cross our minds. at least if we can determine who is the most likely culprit, our curses can be directed at the ‘deserving’ parties.:(
im sorry if u take offence from that, and it was never my intension to hijack this thread.

i dont see a reason why not. the JH-7s can already carry 4 C80X missiles with two wingtip AAMs for selfdefence. so i’d expect the MK2s to at least match that.
in fact, i would expect the MK2s to be able to carry up to 4 AAMs for self defence (two R77 class BVRs with two R27 IRs) in addition to the AShMs, and maybe also targeting and nav pods.
an alternative configeration would be 4 AShMs with three AAMs, two targeting and nav pods and an ECM pod.
“Not necessarily, car bombs are ETA’s speciality, although their attacks have never been nearly as deadly as this one. Their previous “record” is something like 20 fatalities in a Madrid attack. Maybe they were inspired by the magnitude of Al-Quida’s attacks, AQ’s never off the news, is it?”
purhaps, but appareantly Al-Q is also getting good at remote detonation devices if rumors of their involvement in iraq are true, which would not rule them out.
i tend to lean toawards Al-Q because of ETA’s small size and the average size of their previous attacks. while ETA cant be ruled out, AL-Q would seem a more liklit culprit.
also, it is unlike ETA not to claim responsibility if this was one of their attacks after so much has evidently been put into it.
hope the ppl responsible are brought to justice soon.

what would be range of the IR seeker? amd does anyone have a pic?
cheers.
terrible tragidy!
however im a little spectical abt the ETA connection. it doesnt look like their ‘style’ (if it can described as such), and they have denide responsility. it looks like another AlQ attack to me.:(

but having said that, i think that the range of the F-CK-1s will not put as much pressure on the PLA as, say, if the F16s were armed with this new ARM.
the PLA could just reposition some of its S300/HQ9 batteries, but it would still be risky as other areas will then be exposed.
still think that more fighters on standby is the best way to deal with this new challenge.
true, but when u put that into context of how many missiles and launchers are needed to make up a battery and the size of china, then u could see that relying purely on the S300s for air defence is nowhere near enough.
before, the PLA could use less capable SAMs and lots of AAA to cover the wholes, but this new taiwanese ARM will pose a great threat to those battries, so the best reponse would be to have mroe fighters ready to lauch as soon as earlywarning radar picks up suspicious ROCAF launch patterns.
