the PLA doesnt have that many S300/HQ9 batteries. if this new ARM goes into operations, then it will cause quite a few headachs for the PLA.
the PLAAF will now probably need to put more fighters on alert and cant rely as much on its SAM and AAA batteries around taiwan to cover the fighters in the air in case taiwan launches a suprise attack.
from this and the recent delivery of AMRAAMs, it would appear that the ROCAF’s F16s might take a more active role in air defence to cover for the F-CK-1s as they take up more ground attack and anti-shipping roles.
“oh , cool i didnt know that.. Yeah your right China is being docile and peacefull, the 400+ balistic missiles aimed at taiwan are its way of showing peace, and basing some of its best aircraft in that region is also another nice way to show peace. “
 oh, i guess the 4,000+ nuclear tipped US ICBMs are for peaceful purposes too. weapons are weapons, they are design to kill and thats all. what’s important is how these weapons are used. merely having weapons dont mean crap.
“Wait i get US tv shows and i also have german stuff sometimes i guess if the UK bombed either of those countries it would be ok. “
 if u knew the slightest bit abt taiwan u would see who completely baseless that argument is.
“Didnt know hacking was a provacation to war. live and learn”
no, but its not a sign of peace or good will either. if china wanted a war with taiwan, it has a million reasons to start one and half of them would be more legit then the argument the US used to invade iraq.
by not acting the way some taiwanese polititions and military officers have done (hacking, or at the very least allow ppl to use its territory to hack into chinese TV broadcasts), nor reacting to he same extent that some of them have to provocation(threating to bomb hong kong and the new three gorges damn).
could u be reading a little too mcuh into this C?
the report said:’Russian Developers Deliver 12 Upgraded Su-30MK2 Airplanes to China’, then it said:’…Chinese defense ministry order for the reequipping of Su-30MKK airplanes with…’.
it could simply be that the 12 planes in question are not the newer MKK2 verson was metioned in many publications, but rather just PLAAF MKKs that were sent to russia to recieve the stated upgrade, and now are being returned, these being called MK2 to differenciate from the MKKs currently in PLAAF serivce and MKK2s that will be delivered to the PLANAF.
 only if they try to break away. if u havent noticed, china has been doing a hell of alot more then taiwan to stop a war from breaking out at the moment.
“China is not interested in intervention soley for
economic reasons not for military reasons. China has to better
the lives of its 800M peasants before thinking about Taiwan.
Even if they recognize independence how many countries will
recognize them. For China it is more like buying time game when
Taiwan become irrelevant relative to China to be suitable for
intervention.”
its not as simple as that. national unit is a time held principle for china, just like not negociating with terrirosts is for the US. china cannot and will not allow that line to be crossed. currently, china’s main aim is economic development, but if taiwan crosses the line, then that objective will quickly take a back seat to national unification.
so has everyone else. 😀 just about.
so has everyone else. 😀 just about.
i think it is a safe bet to assume that the ROCAF’s fighters can all use highways. however, the value of such tactics would ne highly questionable as very few fighters can get airborn this way, and would be a fairly easier target for PLAAF CAP fighters which will greatly outnumber them.

“PRC does not now, nor never will have the resources to mount a sucessful invasion of Taiwan. Just at Germany could not mount the resources to cross 20+ miles of the English Channel to invade the UK in WWII, the PRC can not “bridge the 100+ miles of the Strait.”
 technology has advance a great deal since 1940; the PRC is much much bigger then germany (in 1940, and even today) with far greater industrial and man power and taiwan is nowhere near the size of britian…
even US estimates suggest that the PRC, as of now, can launch a succeful invasion of taiwan provide the US military does not directly intervine, be it at great cost.
“If the PRC made a hostile move across the Strait, the US and allies would cut off the supply of oil to the PRC and stop them in their tracks.”
china is not as dependent on imported oil as u suggest. domestic production and imports from russia would be more then sufficient to fuel an invasion and keep the population from serious disconfort. the only thing that would suffer from a US blocade of middle east oil would be the chinese economic growth, and american economic recovery in turn.
well the plan u suggested will not happen for at least one reason, and that is as soon as taiwan tells the US, the US will shut the whole thing down.
the US econmoy has become every more reliant on the chinese economy over the years (and vice versa), and the trend looks set to continue.
if war breaks out in the straigts, and taiwan wins, then the chinese economy will be badly affected as china puts mroe and more resources into the military. (be assured, if taiwan ‘wins’ its independence this way, it will not be the end of it. taiwan and china will be locked in a continous war much like what has happened in the middle east until either china taks taiwan or is so badly exhauseted that there is no hope of it ever taking taiwan. either way, this would be disaterous for the world economy that has become so reliant on china as a engine for economic growth. not to meation the disruption to trade in one of the world’s busist shipping lanes.
well, china allowing the blue ridge and later kitty hawk to visit chinese ports are signs that china won launch an assault on taiwan on matter how the vote goes this month.
the US deciding to send its ships at this time can also be seen as a polite reminder that they are still in the block.
maybe his friends got there before the bug had time to cut his up? but i would expect that troopers can be cut into little bits as even HF has that in it.
