“Plus from the article it seems they saved a lot of money by not going for the F-15I so when not use some of that for the radar’s and the Radars that the US sold to them could be use to upgrade its other fleet…”

well, i think the article was talking more of being able to get more for the same amount as opposed to just having money left over. remeber that the article also said that the deal would use up most of israel’s FMF for the next decade.

does this mean that israeli radars are better then american ones or is this just politics?

yeah, but u also ‘conviniently’ avoided some suggestions that purhaps troops only took to AK47s because of ammo shortages or simply because they liked it better (lighter purpahps, also, dont forget that the bullpump design of the SA80 means that the weapon effectively cant be fired from the hip while on the move, considerations need to be given for that).

also, the SA80’s faults were ways over exaggerated, and most soilders dont encounter jamming with their rifles.

besides, even though the AK47s are more ruggid, most have been knocking around for years if not decades, probably without the propper care and regular cleaning needed to keep the weapons in tip top conditions, so based on that, i would not agree that the average ‘AK47 might be more serviceable and better repected than the SA80.’

    so, no, it doesnt. :p

i think its possible, and even likely that the ‘simplified 1473’ (1473D for convinence) would be installed on PLAAF FC-1s if an order is made. (would make logistics and intergration much easier, also lowers costs with increased production).

however i have many doubts abt this radar being installed on PAF JF-17s.

firstly, the chinese might be unwilling to allow their newest domestice radar go to pakistan for the same reason they dont want their newest domestic fighter going there – security. sure, if the CIA or indian intelegence agencies get sats on the 1473D, they wont learn everything, but based on that info, they can make a pretty good prediction of how good the 1473 is.

secondly, the PAF seemed to always prefer western equipment, so they might not want the 1473D. they might accpect the full spec 1473, but its unlikely that china will offer it.
