“Strange configuration in real life. No means for self defence, no ASRAAM or AIM-9. But it indeed looks very sweet.”

well for the last two wars the brits fought in, all the AAMs brought up were brought back down again. if the brits fight with the yanks and can gain absolute air donomence as they have done, then i dont really see the point of wasting pylon space on AAMs when they’ll just be brought back down again.

    sweet looking combo nonetheless.

it know most modern blades are made of composit material and are classified and all that, but what were the materials used on earier helo?

    cheers.

    steve:

no one ever said anything abt the UK having a perfect supply system, and in fact i even pointed out a few logistic problems faced by the british forces in iraq and expressed my ‘understanding’ that such things do happen. however, i was trying to make the point that it is wholely unaccetable that in this day and age, british troops should be sent into a hostile area with only the rounds in their gun’s (magazine).

i have certainly never heard of stories abt how american or even iraqi, soilders running out of ammo (but in the latter’s case, its probably more to do with them not shooting rather then having a better suply system 😉 ).

nevertheless, the point i made stands. a soilder will probably accept that he might not get fresh socks every week, he may accept that he may not get all his kit in time, he may even accept that he might have to miss a meal here and there, but no soilder would accept not having enough ammo to defend himself with when being sent overseas to fight.
