true, but the basic F15 airframe still still pretty capable. it would be much more cost effective to just update the radar and avionics (replace them completely if needed) rather then to buy a whole new system. as for the ground crew, well if they need more training, buying a new a/c wont change much, it was even make things worse as they would now need to learn how to maintain a new system.

the colour schemes on the Q5 parked on the kieve (or was it another ex-sov carrier), terrible!

if the two are offered in one package, then it might be a better deal for nations with limited budgets and capable adveraries (potential) then any of types by themselves.

a package of 25 gripens and 10 typhoons, IMHO, would offered better operational cabalities then, say 40 gripens or 20 typhoons.

having interchangable parts, it would also not be as costly to maintain as a mig29/su3X or f16/F15 combo.
