“They’re lying. I hear they’ve already got Beagle on jacks in a hangar.”
watch out NASA, they’re going for the spirit next. 😀 😉

“I’m pretty sure it was HitchHiker’s too, well, one of the books anyhow. Remember there was this monster or creature which wouldn’t be able to see you if you covered your head with a towel?”
was it in preditor when arnie got covered in mud?
hello, but why?

“Ah, but the concept as such means that the mini-AWACS can be well behind the “front lines”. If things deteriorate to the point where the FOXHOUND has to get away from there, I’d rather be in the FLANKER with arguably better acceleration.”
i think u are getting mini-AWACS mixed up with full sized ones. a flanker or foxhound mini-AWACS would only be able to operate as far from the front lines as its radar range, any futher away and they wouldnt be able to see anything so how could they do any commanding?
the foxhound has a much much bigger radome, so could operate from futher away the action then a flanker verson. but its safety margin is still way smaller then full sized AWACS’, so it isnt that improbably that enemy a/c would be able to penatrate to a range to threaten the mini-AWACs.
also, unlike full sized AWACS, mini-AWACS’ could only operate when they are facing the action, so if the mini-AWACS turned tail and ran, it will no longer be able to direct friendly a/c effectively cos it wont be able to see what is going on. being faster, a foxhound should be able to get to a safe distance faster, and so would be able to get back on the job faster.
“so have i! how does a chicken last that long?”
the owner fed it through its neck. 😉 but it eventually died as a result of an infection. 🙁

“The FOXHOUND doesn’t top out all that much faster than the Su-30 series-the FLANKER can hit Mach 2.3 and the FOXHOUND Mach 2.83. Regardless, any AWACS type sorties will be subsonic so the aircraft can loiter more efectively I’d think.”
in speed, i was thinking more abt getting the hell out of their should things not work out the way u wished,:D in which case the faster the better. 😉
but anyhow, couldnt the foxhound sustain supersonic speeds for longer? useful when u only have a few of these things dont u think? can depoly them quicker to sudden developments.

“Does anyone know if J10C version is being worked on? if so, who is working on it? THat’s the version I’m interested to see happen.”
well i dont think we are likely to see the J10C anytime soon. currently CAC has a hell of alot work to get on with with the developmnet of the J10B and FC-1 and the production of the J10A, so i think they wont have much spare capacity left to persue another ambicious project ATM. thats probably why they are offering the J10C’s airframe as a contender for the XXJ project.
if china is secretly persuing a carrier programme, then things would look better for the J10C’s future as it would suit carrier ops much better then any other a/c within the PLA or on the design boards.
but if that was the case, then it would seem likely that the J10C would be transfered to another aircraft company as CAC at present will be too thinly streched to ensure completion of all its projects on time. either that of CAC would have to loose the FC-1 or J10A or B.
if CAC really wants to keep onto everything, then it may be forced to take over one or a few of the smaller, less successful aircraft makers. it will increase CAC’s capacities while ensuring that few jobs would be lost.
