Nice set, almost gives me a spring feeling. I can’t get enough of those pictures with the coastline in the background.
Good to see that KLM pilots are also taking the waving policy serious when they are abroad.

That are some miles Keith, I thought petrol was expensive in the UK!
The 737 looks like a former KD avia. At least 2 each were parted out in Lasham and Kemble last autumn.
The grey electricty box on the back makes it look like its there to stay.

hi Tartan
I was in Vienna in 2008. The runways are accesible, only not with motorised transport. Al the country lanes leading to and along the runways are “Verboten fur Motorfahrzeuge”. The police patrol regularly aswel so better not to try.
The best spot in the morning is in Klein Neu-Siedl on the L156 to the east of the airport. If you park your truck on or near the Katharinenhofstrasse you can walk the last couple of hundred meters to the runway (assuming they fly from the south). The fence is about shoulder hight so you only need a small elevation to shoot over the fence. also if you move closer to the threshold you can shoot landing shots just above the ground. To the west of the runway is also possible but you would have to walk some 30 minutes from the nearest point that you can park a car.
The southside of the runway in front of the terminal is a long walk from anywhere.
for extensive info about spotting in Vienna go to

and then to Vienna/Vienna information
If you like to see some of the traffic, this was there may 2008

from beancounter to beancounter:
If you rotate planes every 6 years and have orders from 2015 to 2025 you have probably already ordered the replacements of the replacements.
On another note, the livespan of an aircraft type is getting very long. The A320 familly now has orders till 2025 that would be 35? years in production. The 737 and 747 have already been in production longer. Where is the variation for us spotters coming from?

I love the Tu104 Peter, way before my time. Good pictures by your father Darren, perhaps we can see more from his collection in the future?

For Homer: Yes the nosegear of the trident is off-center, it actually moved sideways on retraction. The main gear is also unconventional.
It has 4 wheels on one axle, to retract the leg had to rotate to put the axle in line with the fuselage (the IL76 also has this).
There are many more unconventional things on the Trident, this Trident3 is actually 4 engined, the 4th boosterengine in the tail provided
power for take-off, also in this picture you can see the APU-exhaust blowing straiht up from the middle engine(s) air-intake
Question for the trident man: did they move the nose wheel from right off-centre to left off-center from the Trident2 to the Trident3?
Still fresh in my mind but this is actually some decades ago already

Incident looks a lot like that Lufhansa A320 at Warsaw many years ago.
In that instance the runway was so slippery from snow and ice that the landing gear sensors did decide that no contact was made with the runway and the aircraft systems therefore didnot engage trustreversers and brakes.
It is true that aircraft can stop on brakes alone but in snow conditions braking may be impaired. Also when one of the wheel(sets) hits an ice spot the aircraft can start skidding very sideways. Trustreversers are not effected by the runway condition and provide a safer way to stop in a straight line.
The runway surface is not visible in the video so its not possible to comment on the braking conditions.
just my 3 cents

Very nice additions Vino, can’t help you with the dates since they are some way before my time.
You scans look a lot better JB, pehaps you can check if the film is flat in the mount and if not reframe them to improve sharpness
(the Titan short has an out of focus tail which suggest a bending piece of film)
Here are some more from my side
