Nahhh dude, don’t be nasty… (still I think it was quentin tarantino who said something like this about top gun “it’s about men struggling with their inner unknown homosexuality” :D)

I just feel that Top Gun was a better movie, some scenes at L d Ciel seemed too disconected from each other and such.

Oh, and can’t forget those *classy* 80s songs ๐Ÿ˜€

PS: One point in favour of the french one are the girls, it is way better in that section ๐Ÿ˜‰

The soundtrack and flying scenes of Top Gun was definetly hot. As were the 500 or so shower scenes! :p

This guy knows how to get things said:
    clicky

Since the forum censors the word s_hitty, just browse down until you find the link to “Five s_hitty movies that everyone loves” (posted 16.06.04)

    Saw it recently too.

Nice movie, but still *something* was lacking to make it a classic like Top Gun ๐Ÿ˜Ž

The shower scenes or maybe the oiled up men player volleyball… ๐Ÿ˜‰

As for this movie, it looks like it is beeing release on DVD up here next week. With sutbtitles and everything. Can’t wait! ๐Ÿ˜€

(I’ve only seen it in French without subtitles…I didn’t understand anything except the flight scenes!)

I’ll just add my two cents to this discussion, and quote Yefim Gordon from his book “Famous Russia Aircrafts – Mikoyan MiG-31”:

    MiG-31E Export Intreceptor

    http://www.testpilot.ru/russia/mikoyan/mig/31/e/images/mig31e_1.jpg

At various times suck nations as Iran, Syria, Libya and China showed an interest in the MiG-31. Therefore, as early as 1987 a production MiG-31B (c/n N38401208786) was converted into the demostrator of an export version designed MiG-31E (eksportnyy – export, used attributively). The aircraft received distinctive blue/white trim over the standard overall grey colour shceme and the tactical code ‘903 White’.
The MiG-31E was armed with four R-33s [AA-9 Amos] (in an export version) and two or four ‘dogfight missiles’ on underwing pylons. The avionics fit (notably the IFF and the ECM systems) was altered.
The MiG-31E’s roles included acting as an airborne command post for other fighter types, such as the MiG-21, MiG-23 and MiG-29, which were in service with the air forces of the nations listed above. Therefore, even the purchase of a couple of MiG-31E could bolster the customer nation’s air defence appreciably.
‘903 White’ made its public debut at the ILA-92 airshow at Berling-Schรถnefeld. Afterwards it participated in numerous other showes, including MAKS-99.

Thank you very much for these pics. I haven’t seen an UTG painted as either ’12 Red’ or ’15 Red’ before.

    When were this pictures taken?

I see the Flanker-D ’82 Red’ here, but I belive that was the one who were lost in the North Atlantic last September…

I belive around 500 Foxhounds of all variants were built. I belive Yefim Gordon writes in his “Mikoyan MiG-31” book that around 300 is left in the Air Defence service.
The MiG-31M is cancelled after (I belive) 6 prototypes were built, due to the high costs of the new avionics and the R-37 missile.
It hasnt been exported yet as far as I know, and I havent heard anything about China leasing some. I’m not sure on the export potential of these planes, as they are constructed for nothing more than to cover the wast open spaces on Russias far northern border.
