True yet J-10’s equipped with WS-10A’s could be a option? Has anyone heard more about the progress of the Chinese Turbofan??? 😮

Its spent alot of time on the test bench accumulating hours and has now moved onto test flying on an IL76 engine test bed and recently a J-11.

Considering the recent purchase of over a hundred AL31F for the J-10 to meet PLAAF needs I would of thought that WS-10 production will focus on being supplied to future batches of the J-11 for the moment.

What China really needs is a local powerplant for the FC-1/JF-17 if they want it to be successful on the export market.

Well it probably does has some form of advantage, it is scaled up from the F-5
making it similar to the Northrop F-17 which in itself is a scaled up F-5. If we ever do get a good structural and size drawing I would love to compare it to the Northrop F-17.

As for the Bickering I have to agree, Sealord maybe Flex297 got you wrong but your first statement was overly simplistic in it’s description of the Iranian nation and it’s people. Whilst I have no like for the nastier elements of their government and I deplore their punishments especially the Death Penalty by in large the people are moderate, well educated and modern. Prior to the 2003 Iraq war it was easier and alot safer to travel to Iran then a number of the Arab nations in the area.

I wouldn’t consider Egypt as likely as it gets alot of aid from the US. On the otherhand Iran is a intersting idea! Seems like a mixed force of Flankers and J-10’s would be ideal…………….(i.e. high/low mix)

Egypt is a difficult one to gauge really as they like to spread around their defence purchases. In recent years they have obtained American, Russian, European and Chinese equipment. The K8 purchase was a big surprise to everyone but it did involve development of their aerospace industry. A J-10 purchase would be a surprise but not unconcievable. The JF-17 would certainly be a good replacement for a number of their older types like the Mig-21 and foster independance in their defence procurement.

http://www.Sinodefence.com would be a good port of call ha27 for info about the J-10. Its certainly entered squadron service and has a number of developments planned for it over the next few years including thrust vectoring and the fitting of an indiginously developed engine.

As for foreign sales the only country which has expressed a desire for this type is Pakistan. If it prooves to be successful I can see Egypt and possibly Iran considering it as well as a few other airforces.
