I saw Banlieue 13 at the Cinema and when I got home I thought wow got to have that so I logged onto FNAC.com to buy a copy (I had set up the account to buy my copy of Chevalier du Ciel).
As for loaning it to the MFL department I thought what the hell the kids will love it, there is a difference between the French rating (12) and the British one (15) but I decided to split the difference and tell the teachers NOT to show it to year 7. At the end of term the school sort of turns into a film club as the teachers don’t really want to teach at the end of term, the MFL department welcomed the change from Taxi.
You could hear the film all the way through E block (each classroom has a ceiling mounted digital projector and interactive whiteboard and speakers), after the students had watched the film I asked the MFL teachers what they thought and whilst they were grateful if they had seen it beforehand they wouldn’t of shown it (a bit too violent for their liking). On the other hand the students greatly enjoyed it watching it in dead silence, the MFL teachers told me they couldn’t switch it off or they would of had a riot on their hands! :diablo:
The MFL teachers liked Chevalier du Ciel because of the pretty plane footage, bizzarly PE also liked that film. The afternoon before I had accidently left my Chevalier du Ciel DVD in the sports hall testing out a PA and video system. When I realised what I had done I phoned the PE office and asked them to return it when they could. When it didn’t reappear I went hunting and found that one of the PE teachers had decided to use it for a cover lesson, apparently he had found it the PE office and thought to himself “that will do”. When I came into the classroom he and the students were happily watching it in French as they couldn’t work out how to get the subtitles up (there are none so it would of been a futile hunt.)
All in all it can be funny at the end of term in a school.
