I told you who did the structural tests JSR, Beriev as part of the contract for the A-50I Phalcon. Those structural changes were made to the airframe and delivered to China from Russia in 2000 – you can’t deny that there many photos of that aircraft in from 1999 with those structural changes and plenty with radar from 2003. China had started an AESA program in the 90’s and the and they had a domestic AESA available for their ships by 1998. The radar probably used technology transferred from the Ukraine, Russia and Israel. Again nobody is denying that China based their indigenous designs on foreign technology transfer. China had AESA radar technology available for the crash program that led to the KJ2000.

Again how is that video a joke, I see a fully working aircraft production facility. How is it a joke? Come on please do explain JSR, we need a laugh. So you think China FAKED that video, that is what you are saying isn’t it!

The truth is you can’t stand idea that China has a domestic aerospace industry. All you bring is silly theories and links to unrelated thinks like the ARJ21 and waffle about the Mig-35 vs the J-15. Yes AESA are hard to develop, China has said as much many times and it is well known that they have used technology transfer and a degree of industrial espionage to get where they are now. You can’t change the fact that the KJ2000 exists, it is actual flying hardware and you can do nothing about it JSR.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA! JSR! WOW!

You have not presented one shred of evidence that the four KJ2000 were actually converted in Russia with a Russian AESA beyond your opinion that China neither had the technical ability or money to do it?! China not have the money??????????????????That economic boom completely passed you by did it JSR????

    NOT A SHRED OF EVIDENCE!

Come on show us a picture of the aircraft being delivered from Russia! Show us one shred of evidence that this happened! Show us the smiling Chinese officials shaking hands with their Russian counterparts! So, because a few articles speculated when the Israelis cancelled the Phalcon order that the Chinese were in negotiations for the A-50E in 2000 you believe that actually happened despite ZERO EVIDENCE OF ANY ORDER being made! WOW! JUST WOW! Despite the vast amount of evidence including actual video footage of the Chinese facility doing the work to convert an il76 into a KJ2000 to JSR that is fake and there was a secret deal with Russia.

Despite there being a vast amount of evidence that the KJ2000 were converted locally with a Chinese AESA you still make yourself look stupid with your silly theory. So are you saying China faked the AESA radar they fitted to the Lanzhou class destroyer and the KJ2000. You saying that in complete secret China actually ordered a Russian system that even the Russians haven’t admitted to!

You are a funny man JSR, stubborn certainly.

    Enjoy your fantasy world.

But hey you have given me a laugh today!

Very interesting, the price hike for il76 airframes is really starting to bite. No doubt Airbus military will make an offer more then likely utilising an Israeli radar. I can see Boeing offering a Wedgetail variant as well.

    Interesting times!

    JSR
The radar itself is made by Vega in year 2000. and it was put into original 4 A-50E. and it cannot be replaced by AESA without OEM. Just the weight difference on such large plane would not allow it.

The prototype KJ2000 first flew in 2003 with a fixed radome containing an AESA radar so clearly they did do it. They had OEM help in the form of the work they paid Beriev to redesign and rebuild the il76 to carry the Elta Phalcon. China substituted the Phalcon for an indiginous radar developed by the 14th institute. Lets have a look at a picture of that aircraft again shall we JSR and compare it to an A-50:

    http://ww1.sinaimg.cn/large/520dad68jw1e5ekd0irb3j20rs0iiady.jpg

Notice the fixed dish radome with three arrays and the large aft fuselage strakes. This is the prototype KJ2000 that flew in 2003. This is a known fact witnessed and photographed by many people.

Now lets look at an A-50

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/88/Beriev_A-50,_2011-08-13.jpg

Here we see a Russian airforce A-50, notice it has a rotating dish radome and lacks aft fuselage strakes. There are numerous detail differences.

Nobody here is denying that the Chinese didn’t use information from Beriev to build the KJ-2000. The Chinese had paid Beriev to develop the structural changes needed to install the Phalcon AESA system, Beriev delivered that airframe to China. The Chinese installed their own radar on that airframe and then proceed to adapt a further three airframes with their own refinements. This is really simple JSR. If the Chinese were operating an A-50E variant from 2003 on it would have significant structural differences. There are thousands of pictures now of the four KJ-2000 in Chinese service and they are significantly different from an A-50E. They look very similar to an A-50EI which is entirely logical considering the Chinese had purchased a very similar aircraft until it was cancelled by Israel under American pressure.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Your links show speculation of a Chinese A-50E order in 2000! THAT DIDN”T HAPPEN IN THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many flippin times do I have to explain this!

IN 2000 ISRAEL CANCELLED THE ORDER FOR ONE A-50I FOR CHINA UNDER US PRESSURE! CHINA TOOK DELIVERY OF THE AIRFRAME ADAPTED FOR THE PHALCON RADAR SYSTEM WITHOUT RADAR OR MISSION SYSTEM! CHINA HAD ALREADY INSTIGATED A CRASH PROGRAM TO ADAPT THE RADAR FROM THE LANZHOU CLASS DESTROYER FOR AIRBORNE PURPOSES IN 1996! THEY INSTALLED THAT RADAR IN THE AIRFRAME ADAPTED BY BERIEV BETWEEN 2000 AND 2003! IT HAD ITS FIRST FLIGHT IN 2003! CHINA THEN PURCHASED THREE MORE il76 FROM RUSSIA WHICH THEY INSTALLED A REFINED VERSION OF THE SYSTEM ALREADY INSTALLED IN 762! AT NO TIME DID BERIEV TAKE AN ORDER FOR OR DELIVER AN A-50E TO CHINA! THE ARTICLES YOU HAVE LINKED TALK OF SPECULATION ONLY IN 2000! THE BERIEV AND VEGA WESITES ARE NOT UP TO DATE AND ALSO MAKE NO MENTION OF AN ORDER FOR THE A-50E FOR CHINA! SHOW ME ONE PICTURE OF BERIEV BUILDING AN A-50E FOR CHINA! SHOE ME ONE PICTURE OF VEGA MAKING A RADAR AND MISSION SYSTEM FOR CHINA! SHOW ME ONE PICTURE OF THIS SUPPOSED ORDER! SHOW ME A PICTURE OF THE DELIVERY CEREMONY!

YOU CAN’T BECAUSE IT NEVER HAPPENED!

    YOU ARE WRONG JSR!

KJ2000 IS NOT AN A-50E!!!!!!!! The AESA it uses was developed in the late 90’s!!!!!!! It is that simple! Yes China has transferred lots of technology and more then likely the radar fitted to the KJ2000 is heavily influenced by foreign technology that doesn’t change the fact it was developed in China!

THERE ARE NO A-50E flying! It is ONLY mentioned on a couple of websites in the form of an export model!

In the end JSR it is the same same old isn’t it all you want to hear is RUSSIA BEST! RUSSIA IS GREATEST! WE ALL TREMBLE AT THE MIGHTY RUSSIA!

Well we don’t JSR! Most of what you have written on the matter of the Chinese KJ2000 is asinine and borderline racist! I have provided ACTUAL PICTURES OF FLYING AIRCRAFT and VIDEO! You have provided a few factually incorrect links to old articles and a couple of manufacturer websites that are not up to date.

Why is the A-50E on the Beriev website? Because they are not very good at updating their website JSR! Just because Beriev keep the A-50E on their website doesn’t mean the KJ2000 is a development of that proposed type. Beriev would of said something about it, the KJ2000 is an entirely Chinese indigenous project. The performance of an AESA radar is not directly affected by using older engines, China had access to D30 powered examples so that is what they used. As long as it meets the operational requirements of the PLAAF that is what is important.

Nobody here is saying the KJ2000 out performs anything if that is what you are getting hung up on JSR! As myself and harvarla both pointed out mission system performance of the KJ2000 is a complete mystery. What we do know is it has no relation to the A-50E and it uses an AESA radar derived from that fitted to a Lanzhou class destroyer.

    JSR
Only two countries can create full specification airborne control system.

A Russian website stated only the US and Russia can develop AEW&C and you just accept that as gospel truth?! Ignoring the systems developed by other Countries!!!!! It is a sales website JSR with a marketing blurb, that is wrong! Only a simple internet search would show that.

Britain has developed AEW&C: Sea King ASaC 7 with Cerberus
Sweden has developed AEW&C: Saab 340 with Eriye
    France has developed AEW&C: Horizon
China has developed AEW&C: Multiple systems including KJ2000
    Italy: AW101 AEW
    Israel: multiple systems including Phalcon

I am sure many could at to this off the top of my head list.

JSR China operates the KJ2000! That is what I am talking about! I am not talking about the Y-20! I am not talking about the A-50E an export variant that China never purchased. That China and Russia has cooperated on defence projects in the past is not under dispute so I don’t see why you are bringing it up. We only saw our first picture of the Y-20 last year, maybe it will have a long certification. Nobody would be surprised by that, so again I don’t understand why you are bringing it up. It is an unrelated matter to the Chinese adapting four il76 to meet their domestic AEW&C requirements. That the first KJ2000 used the il76 airframe that was going to be the A-50I ordered from Israel is public fact. I don’t understand what you arguing.

We know you think China is a technological backwater, that is your opinion but it doesn’t change the fact that China operate and export AESA AEW&C aircraft.

JSR China doesn’t operate the A-50E! It just doesn’t! There is not one shred of evidence it does! If it did Beriev would of said something about it! China operates four il76 based KJ2000. There are literally hundreds of pictures of the KJ2000 in Chinese service! It has significant differences from an A-50! China ordered the A-50I in 1997, India ordered the A-50EI in 2004 a mere four years later. Even the Indian airforce itself has stated that their fleet of A-50EI are based upon the work already done for the earlier A-50I.

This is a picture of a KJ2000 in China being flown by Chinese people:

    http://www.ausairpower.net/PLA-AF/KJ-2000-Nanjing-02S.jpg

The KJ-2000 first flew in 2003 and the type officially entered service in 2009, not an unreasonable time frame. The KJ2000 is a UNIQUE aircraft it is not an A-50 or an A-50I/EI. Why are you unable to accept the Chinese have done this JSR? Why won’t you accept an actual picture of the aircraft?

The A-50I that China was buying had a Phalcon radar system from Elta. The A-50EI has a Phalcon radar system from Elta. Development of the A-50I started and finished before India decided to procure the A-50EI. The A-50EI is an adaptation of the A-50I design with Indian unique features including different engines. It is a transport airframe not a fighter JSR! India specified different features it doesn’t change THE FACT that the Chinese order proceeded that if the Indian order! Or are you saying that after the deal with China was cancelled and the single airframe was sent to China that Elta and Beriev burned all the structural and systems development work prior to bidding for the Indian contract.

Do you realise how crazy that sounds JSR!

Can you put your racist attitude to anything that involves the Chinese to one side. We are talking about FACTUAL events! That were WELL reported with FLYING HARDWARE! Denying that JSR just makes you sound crazy!

    JSR
4 A-50E was predicted as far as back in year 2000.
    http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtri…ina-11-17.html

That is an OLD SPECULATIVE article JSR, it didn’t happen! China DID NOT BUY 4 A-50E off Russia! They inducted FOUR indigenous KJ2000! Four aircraft that have significant differences from an A-50 and we have actual evidence of production. Are you saying that they were actually built by Beriev in secret?

Good god you really do live in a fantasy world!

The Phalcon deal was well reported there were pictures of the aircraft in Israel for Christs sake! That the A-50EI is a derivative of the proposed A-50I is well reported! You do understand what derived means?

So how is that video a joke JSR, come on please to explain to us. It shows the prototype 762 airframe, it also shows one of the three later airframes in service being flown and another in final assembly. Come on explain please do, I need a laugh…

China poor in the 90’s? Really? That economic trade boom must of been a figment of our imaginations!

So you give us as evidence two articles, one that speculates about an A-50E procurement in 2001 the other also speculates that but also talks about THE ACTUAL CANCELLED DEAL. I put cited evidence, pictures and video but to Mr JSR are forum aerospace and economics expert they are all false. And you wonder why forums get angry at you JSR.

    Bonkers!

Wow I come back from a weekend away hiking and camping with my girlfriend, log into Key Pub and you have blown my mind JSR! REALLY?! Are you totally ignorant of the Chinese attempted procurement of the Elta Phalcon radar system to be installed on an il76 airframe???????????? REALLY!? I am staggered! You are either trolling us or your lack of knowledge about the defence aerospace industry has plumbed new depths! WOW just WOW!

It was one of the most reported and controversial deals of the late 90’s and resulted in significant diplomatic tensions between Israel, China and the USA yet you have no knowledge of it, REALLY?! It was reported in the mainstream press and you don’t know about it. Oh well lets give yet another lesson shall we JSR.

In 1997 China signed a deal with Elta of Israel to procure the Phalcon AEW&C system on an il76 airframe.

    JSR
Where you get this information that Israel gave asea tech in 90s to China? How can Israel modify A-50 airframe for AESA or any radar.

They didn’t. Israel did not do the airframe modification, that was contracted to Beriev. China procured the airframe from Russia, Beriev modified the airframe to be suitable for the Phalcon AESA system and the aircraft was dispatched to Israel in 1999 for installation of the mission system and radar. In 2000 the order was cancelled under American pressure and the Chinese who had paid for the airframe had it delivered to China with the structural and power modifications but with no mission system or radar. Again this WAS VERY WELL REPORTED JSR!

    JSR
No one gave technical modification information to Chinese in late 90s and there is no such thing as AESA made in china that time.

I did not say Israel gave China AESA tech JSR (albeit it is strongly rumoured they have over the years). China was buying a complete AEW&C system from Elta that was brand new and effectively unique at the time. Do you really think they would do that with no access to technical specifications?! Elta of Israel was the contractor with Beriev of Russia acting as a sub contractor and the PLAAF of China was the customer. The customer specified what they wanted, the prime contractor put together a proposal and gave it to the customer.

In fact heavier antenna of AESA took 4 years for Beriev to do structural tests for A-50EI.

Do you know who paid Beriev to do that structural development and test work to install the Phalcon AESA on the il76 JSR? It was China! The A-50EI for India is a sub variant of the A-50I that was proposed and purchased by China. The A-50I for China came before the A-50EI for India, the Indians benefited from the ground work for the prior contract. AGAIN this is VERY WELL reported JSR!

    JSR
It is with citation. 4 A-50E. 300 track and 250 mile range.

The first citation you give is out of date and only speculates about a Chinese A-50E procurement, the second article also speculates about it but also talks about the cancelled A-50I procurement from Israel. Way to go there JSR your own citation shows you to be wrong.

There has been zero evidence of any serious Chinese negotiations for the A-50E. It is speculation, no more and should be paid no attention considering more recent events.

    JSR
Extremely slow progress on Y-20 shows that china has very limited ability to do structural modifications with large planes in year 2014 let alone in 1999.

And this is when you finally travel off into your own fantasy twilight zone JSR! I am going to put a picture below then we shall have a talk about it:

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mJGa3-7VSs0/TZd1JdGl5_I/AAAAAAAAKmM/1pOkKItZMug/s1600/1299296376_747931.jpg
Can you see that il76 there JSR with all the Chinese writing on the side? that is airframe 762. It is the prototype KJ-2000, it is the airframe that was going to be an A-50I until the contract was cancelled. In 2000 China was left with an airframe adapted for an AEW&C, they instigated a crash program (rumoured to already of started prior to contract cancellation) with the 14th Institute developing an AESA dervived from that of the Lanzhou class destroyer. It flew in 2003!

I am now going to show you another picture JSR:

    http://sinodefence.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/27_4775_9c246c4d8c840af.jpg?w=1000&h=

Same aircraft, well no this is a different one. You see if China had no ability to adapt large aircraft how come they adapted another THREE without any help from the outside world! China currently operates four of the KJ-2000!

Don’t believe me, well why don’t we watch this nice news report where they not only the KJ-2000 flying but also the factory doing the conversion work:

This is a picture of the inside of a KJ2000 with PLAAF sensor operators at mission consoles:

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eWjvFae11Qw/UPutAU2K7xI/AAAAAAAAD80/oFhtofQAeTg/s1600/KJ-2000_cabin.jpg

How about this picture of the prototype compared to a production example:

    http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h194/lojyefu/y8/kj2000.jpg

So far three of the four are in squadron service, whilst they did have plans for more Russia has not been able to sell more airframes at a reasonable price and appears that the Chinese are awaiting the Y20 to mature and procuring smaller KJ200 in the meantime.

Now as for AESA developments in China they also operate the smaller indigenous KJ-200 mentioned above that uses a balance beam radar mounted on a Y-8:

    http://www.ausairpower.net/Zhuhai-2010/KJ-200-AESA-AEWC-APA-5S.jpg

Here is a nice video of it operating out of Zhuhai:

The Chinese have also developed the ZDK-03 AEW&C for Pakistan, it uses a twin plate rotating AESA. It was built to Pakistani specifications, AGAIN WELL REPORTED and I think the Pakistani airforce would notice if the aircraft they now operated lacks an AESA radar.

Or is it just one huge conspiracy for you JSR? the KJ-2000, KJ200 and ZDK-03 are actually all fakes?

Come on grow up, this has been a bit of an epic post but this is getting tiresome JSR. If you had bothered to type in China and KJ2000 into a search engine all this information would of been available to you. Instead you make yourself look silly talking about A-50E deals that never happened.

Israel gave China the full specification for The Phalcon radar system they were buying in the 90’s JSR. This is well reported. China have been developing AESA radar since the 90’s and that fitted to the KJ2000 is derived from the System fitted to the Lanzhou class destroyer by the 14th institute. This is all in the public sphere and well reported so you are only making yourself stupid denying it JSR. The 14th institute only this year released pictures of the AESA fitted to the KJ2000.

Can you park your racist attitude to the Chinese aerospace industry JSR it is getting boring.
