Kick him when he’s down, why don’t you!

I think maybe we’ll all be looking back very fondly to David Cameron’s time as Prime Minister compared to the next likely leaders of the Conservative Party, and / or the country.

You may have a point Creaking Door, but at the same time, I think it’s fair to say as head of the remain campaign, and more importantly our Prime Minister, he’s had more than one kick at the electorate, so he really should be able to take a kick or two back from us!

(I think that’s what’s known as democracy, something that over 16 million people seem to be unaware of).

So David Cameron will ‘quit’ in October.

Seems his commitment to not being a “quitter” will come back to haunt him no doubt!

Will now the ‘domino’ effect come into being ? Britain has led the way, who will follow ? Netherlands ? Denmark? Not France, surely ?

    But John,

How would the UK electorate, that were apparently not very smart because they could see through all the bullying and lies, live with themselves if such a terrible thing were to happen?

    Cheers

Yep. With the pound already at its lowest level for 30yrs we will see a lot of smart people very nervous this morning.

And as expected, if the result went the way it did.

Oh yes, the ‘smart’ people who got a big wake up call from the electorate!

Now we get to see how long it takes for the shockwave of this one to die down.

Enjoy your day though. I’ve a feeling we’ll all be paying for it for a long time to come.

As seen through a crystal ball, made by the ‘Experts’, or was it from the ‘Smart’ people!

Enjoy your day, and your Brexfast!

I think there will be a large number of people around the UK and Europe choking on their ‘Brexit’ (sorry, Breakfast), this morning!

Five questions to ask the EU.

    1. What power have you got?
    2. Where did you get it from?
    3. In whose interest do you exercise it?
    4. To whom are you accountable?
    5. How do we get rid of you?

    All very good questions MrBlueSky.

But sadly deemed not relevant by the remain camp or no doubt those at the EU!

    One thing though.

If the vote is to remain, then we can expect a bigger push towards what is at the heart, and core foundation of the EU.

    About the Speech:

In an important paper entitled EU Federalism in Crisis at the end of 2011, Mr. Lannoo wrote that the EU, and in particular the single currency, could only continue to exist if it functions as a federal union. He argued that the proposed solutions to the crisis maintained too much sovereignty and power-politics. In his address to the IIEA, he assessed the achievements and shortcomings of the measures taken since last December and outlined his vision for the future of economic and broader European governance.

I think you may be correct. The whole EU experiment is at the point of imploding.
Not something we see reported on the UK news channels though.

It would seem that is the case, and the real fear within the EU.

I was listening to a radio interview this morning, with Cobra beer founder Lord Bilimoria (remain, but also a Euro Sceptic apparently), and he said that if the UK did leave the EU, it will collapse (or words to that effect), to the surprise of the interviewer, who pointed out why would this happen, given (as pointed out earlier by him) that being a member such is a good place for Britain to be in!

🙂 Probably but it is still cringeworthy 🙂

    Indeed!

At least Spencer’s scheme was classy.

Aside from the current paint scheme, it’s interesting to see the strut inflation on the U/C legs.

It is one of the principle reasons that I’ve pushed the agenda of sovereignty.

And thank you for doing so!

But you are sadly falling on deaf ears, or worse still blind eyes along with deaf ears as well!

It appears the word sovereignty is rather open to interpretation by many, but the word they are missing that comes before it as far as the UK is concerned is parliamentary.

It seems to many, it’s worth throwing this away at the expense of continued membership of the EU.

And a lot of our politicians agree with this too.

Nick Clegg (who clearly doesn’t understand the basic meaning of sovereignty, and certainly UK parliamentary sovereignty), is of clearly of this opinion.

“You’ve got to go beyond this idea any Tom, Dick, or Harry, can stop even the miniscule decision”.

Now, I wonder who this ‘Tom’, ‘Dick’, or ‘Harry’, could be?

But I suppose we should expect that from someone who can’t even answer a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question on whether our sovereignty has been restricted, but instead comes up with the bizarre answer “It’s been extended”.

If the above words from him do not open peoples eyes and ears, and start the alarm bells ringing at 11, then God help us all.

    Cheers

Again though you can be outside of the EU and still have rules dictated to you. Brexit wont give you the 0% and the unelected in Brussels will still be able to tell us what to do if we wish to trade with them. Your intended course of action does not deliver the result you want. What you want is not possible in the real world. This really isnt getting through is it?.

I think your problem is you’re confusing EU ‘trading rules’ with EU imposed laws – i.e. laws that are made directly by the EU, (and have nothing to do with ‘trading’), but are imposed upon the people of the UK (and will, or do affect their businesses and everyday lives), because they are passed outside of our parliamentary system, directly by the EU.

I’m sure if we were to leave the EU, we would have to abide by some sort of trading rules with them, but we would no longer have EU laws & directives imposed on us, that currently override our own parliament.

Nope its not. 13% of our laws come from Europe and they are ratified by MEP’s we vote for. The UK has a commissioner appointed by our elected government.

    http://www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN07092.pdf

    Dont fall for the illusion.

According to the House of Commons Library, when asked, their original estimated figure was 15 -55% of our laws come from the EU.

But when they checked the figures from 2010 to 2013, it was 59%.

So those that quote 60% could be said to be pretty close!

But of course there is a caveat, as this figure could include laws or rules for items that don’t apply to us.

But, whoevers figures you believe, the fact of the matter is any % is too much, as it’s OUR politicians and OUR parliament that should make OUR laws, not unelected bureaucrats in Brussels & Strasbourg.

    Jonesy,

I think you are missing the real point of what the referendum is about.

Despite what the ‘experts’ say, leaving or staying the EU is not about, or at the expense of the economy, or indeed families livelihoods.

Or for that matter, jobs, immigration, workers rights, and all the other ‘smokescreen’ arguments that have been put about from both campaigns.

No, it’s something far more important, but simpler and fundamental than that.

The question all those voting on Thursday should be asking themselves is “Who do I, and future generations, want to be governed by?”

Paul, thank you for posting this, it has totally confirmed to me that the decision I have chosen is not that of those I use to follow.

    Out!

    Stu.

    No problem Stu.

Glad you found them of use.

    Bruce,

I agree there is rather a lot to digest there, but I think it’s important to read or listen to these lectures, even if it is something of a history lesson on the formation of what is now known as the EU.

As with anything we think we know a lot about or think we understand, there are always parts of the history that we didn’t know or surprise us, and help us make informed decisions.

So if the links I posted above are too heavy going for anyone, then I suggest (if you never saw it when originally transmitted) that they watch the two BBC programme ‘EU – Them or Us’ that were broadcast a few months ago.

Much more concise than the lectures, but equally as informative, interesting, and important at the same time.

    Part 1

    Part 2

One thing that is clear from these two programmes and the lectures is that our governments have never really been committed to the EU, seemingly adopting a half-hearted or ‘one foot in, one foot out’ approach to being a member, much to the annoyance and confusion of the european member states.

    Cheers

I thought G-HUNT was lost at Dunsfold together with its pilot John Davis, or am I getting my Hunters muddled?

    Rob.

    That Hunter was G-HHUN.
