    Thanks Dave.

    Nice video clips.

However, I had to turn the sound down as that commentator was driving me nuts! ๐Ÿ˜ก

If there was ever an award for just the most irritating and worst commentator in airshow history, then he must have it!

Jeez, he’s still ringing in my left ear!

    Cheers

Well, just seen a picture of her in the new scheme and she looks very nice indeed! ๐Ÿ™‚

I wonder if the new owners will give her clipped wingtips sometime in the future?

The latest issue of Aeroplane says that Spitfire Ltd is a new consortium and that one of the new owners of TD248 is Cliff Spink, hence the new 74 sqn scheme.

I look forward to seeing the new paint job. ๐Ÿ™‚

Very sorry to hear this tragic news. ๐Ÿ™

I never met him in person, but he seemed like a decent kind of bloke and will no doubt be missed by all on this forum.

My condolences to his family & friends.

    Thanks for the info Chad.

Wasn’t sure if it was true or not!

And Daz, thanks for that info too.

Now I know where I read about the incident. It was in a AP feature a while back on the Kindsvater’s machine.!

Well, I for one am looking forward to it!

As much as I liked the old scheme, I think a change will be nice and with RN201 in a similar scheme to the old one, I don’t think it will be to hard to bare! ๐Ÿ˜‰

According to Cliff Spink, the new owners are Spifire Ltd although I don’t know exactly they are.

The G-INFO site has the following details:

    SPITFIRE LTD
    FORUM HOUSE, GRENVILLE STREET
    ST. HELIER
    JERSEY
    JE4 0UE
    CHANNEL ISLANDS

    Steve,

Dug it out a while ago. ๐Ÿ™‚

As you say, nice footage of Lefty Gardener beating up Rebel Field in his P51 and doing an Ed Shipley style roll downwind whilst lowering the gear.

Thought it was rather cool when he taxied the P51 across the road, up his drive and parked on the lawn to be greeted by his wife and kids! ๐Ÿ˜€

Talking of the low level flypasts and the CAF, I seem to remember reading (and seeing a picture) about one of their Buchonโ€™s, which allegedly came a cropper in the mid-late 70’s when doing an extremely low flypast. Luckily, it didn’t destroy the aircraft or pilot as it remarkably skidded to a halt with just bent props and damaged underside! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Does anyone know if this was indeed the case and not just a belly landing?

    Cheers

    What a shame. ๐Ÿ™

Glad the pilot was ok though.

I hope she can be rebuilt to airworthy condition though.

Btw, is Sigi Knoll the guy who rebuilt the engine?

Seem to remember him talking to Robbie Coltraine about the Daimler Benz engines he rebuilds in his workshop for a series called ‘Planes Trains & Automobiles’.

I shot some footage of them running up the Merlin XX at FL.

I might upload it in the next couple of days! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Yep, You Cannot Beat OW!

You have not lived until you’ve been to Old Warden. Irrespective of the crowds, there is always a view. The best in the UK. All of the FP regulars will vouch for the uniqueness of OW. Flightline walks available, hangers open, approachable workforce, and improved cuisine.

    Couldn’t agree more Roger.

With OW, you just turn up, park and that’s you set up for the day. ๐Ÿ™‚

No need to have to walk miles to find a place to watch the display and lug all your stuff with you. ๐Ÿ™‚

And not a step ladder insight!

As much as I like DX, everyone is treated the same at OW – no Gold or Platinum pass enclosures etc. And it’s nice to see the pilots and their families using the restaurant and other facilities too as opposed to having a special tent or seperate place for them to go for the day.

This kind of thing is part of what makes it so special. ๐Ÿ™‚

And the entry prices are damn reasonable too! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Cheers
