    Cracking shots!

Nice to see some from days gone by. 🙂

Love those form inside the P40!

Must dig out the slides Dad took at the 1989 show.

I seem to Remember Hanna snr giving a rather spirited display in the Buchon that year. 😀

    PDS

It doesn’t show anything on their pages for this!

I know they still have the pages up for PV202 but there is no link to a download or no official announcement and no doubt it would be payware if it was released.

Looks like the page was set up only for HFL.

Maybe you should delete it as I don’t think it’s official! 😮

    Alexis,

Not sure exactly, but I believe it was purely for HFL, but AH might well release a version at some stage if HFL permit it.

AH are soon to release their own Spits for DL and the JF pack (which includes a TR.IX) will be getting a major upgrade with these reworked and much improved models. 🙂

    Yep might have too Charlie!

I forgot to ask, what’s happening with ‘Pink Lady’?

After all, the same rules must affect this B17 also.

Have her operators made any protest about these charges?

Well, since I don’t have an MP at the moment, I’m going to write to Mr Darling expressing my views on this madness.

Not that it will make a blind bit of difference. 🙁

I get totally Pissed Off with the European Union and all their barmy rules, regulations and other crap inflicted apon us. 😡

If only people had listened all those years ago to those that said this kind of thing would happen…

While I’m at it, I think I’ll write to UKIP as well.

Plus it was easy to fly, with delightful handling.

Surely the former must be a big plus when low hour and not so skilled pilots are taking it into combat.

And I was going to try and stay clear of this debate! 😀

Now, let me think of one…

    Fw190 Perhaps?

If,as is suggested the P-40 was as good as it says, one wonders what might have happened had they re-engined it with Packard Merlins as they did with the P-51……… Was this ever done or considered?

Well, they did but only the two speed, single stage Packard built Merlin 28 on the P40-F & L.

I don’t have the figures to hand, but thanks to the two speed supercharger it gave a useful performance boost at altitude.

However shortage of Merlins meant they reverted back to the Allison engines.

I wonder how it would have faired if it had the two speed, two stage blower of the 60’s series as per Spit IX & P51B/C?

Thanks for the details. It was horrific to watch both crashes. Kevin Eldridge’s Corsair was like a comet, it had a huge streakof flames trainling behind.

I hope the seriously injured pilot at Oshkosh has made some sort of recovery, and I hope the air traffic controller got what was coming to him.

I saw the footage of the POF Super Corsair the other week on some programme call “Sports Disasters” on the satellite channel Bravo. I think Kevin Eldrige did sustain some nasty injuries (I believe he struck the tailplane and Broke his neck and a few other bones) but thankfully made a full recovery.

‘Ladd’ Doctor was not so fortunate – he broke his neck too but was left a Quadriplegic after the Oshkosh crash. 🙁 I seem to recall they where hoping it might have just been bruising to the spinal chord and that he would make a recovery eventually but I haven’t heard any more on his condition.

    Anyone know how he is?

    Cheers
