Tender will be issued to local shipyards for 16 ASW ships to replace Abhay class corvettes (modified Pauk Class). Shpyards: L&T, ABG, Pipava and government owned GRSE.
I find the whole article hilarious to begin with. The eight minute rearming and refueling time requirement for Tejas between sorties did not appear out of thin air. The author bought the SAAB presentation hook, line and sinker.
Does this mean that India is looking to purchase about 60+ Apaches? That’s much more than the original 22 number. And some people thought that would be all that would have been bought. With the Apaches, LCHs, and Rudras, the IA is on its way to building a nice capability mix.
It doesn’t seem to be. Apaches are being brought via open tender and there’s a limit to which re-ordering can be done on the same contract (usually 50 to 100% as applicable). IAF will order 22 Apaches, IAF will raise squadrons and train pilots while replacing Hinds, IA will then take over the squadrons and other orders of Apache will directly come to Army. The transfer of Rudra should be more seamless.

Apaches will be transferred to the Army once Airforce is done raising the squadrons. Also:-
All future acquisitions of attack helicopters will thereafter be for the Army, an indication that a reluctant IAF will gradually cede this role of providing close helicopter support for ground troops in combat entirely to the Army, which hopes to start getting its Apaches after 2018.
Which means all LCH and Rudra too will be ceded to the army.
I really wish they were not named ISIS! This is what I think of when I see / read ISIS.
Danger zone !!
What is mini on this missile if warhead and other parts are the same? smaller fuel tank? New and smaller engine?
1.5 ton instead of 2.5 (air launched, 3 ton for regular Brahmos), 6 meters length instead of 8.4, 0.51 meter dia instead of .6m+, smaller wingspan. Also, no mods needed on existing airframes to carry the missile.

Brahmos-M ‘mini’ on display with the standard Brahmos missile. The lighter version is being developed for mid sized fighters (MiG-29, Rafale, Mirage-2000 etc)
It has now been confirmed that Bramhos ‘mini’ will have the same range and warhead size as original Brahmos, but a higher velocity. A Su-30Mki would be able to carry “3 to 5” of Brahmos-M.

The Iraqi air force has launched airstrikes on militant fighters’ positions around the northern cities of Mosul and Tikrit after they threatened to march south to Baghdad.
Footage showed what state TV said was a bombing raid on Iraq’s second city. A witness told AFP news agency at least four air strikes had been aimed at militants occupying the old palace compound of Saddam Hussein in the former dictator’s home town.
I am surprised this wasn’t posted here already.
Now would be a good time to get those f-16 operational.
India to Get Improved Version of Airbus MRTT
Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) will sell India an improved variant of the A330-200 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, the contract for which has been “fully negotiated and pre-signed”, an Airbus executive was quoted as saying by Janes Defence review.
Named as the ‘The A330 MRTT Enhanced’, the aircraft features improvements to the aerodynamics, structure, and mission computer.
Work on the prototype aircraft will begin in October 2015, with the first flight scheduled for the end of July 2016. Starting from 2017, all future A330 MRTT customers will be offered this enhanced version, with retrofits being made available to current operators.
The first customer of the A330 Enhanced will be Singapore
