First of Project 15B taking shape.
What kind of threads are the worst threads possible ? The “vs threads”.
I wonder why four sides to the AWACS-like radome? Why not more so there is scan overlap to decrease bogies leaking through? If the backend for the Tx/Rx modules goes bad, that’s much more work and you’re out of service in an emergency. With a six sided arrangement every other backend could fail and you still cover 95% of the area with confidence.
You lose on array size with each added side which results in loss of resolution, and this is already a pretty large radome, so increasing radome size further would not help.
HAL to build a new plant to manufacture 60 LUH annually.
AMCA prototypes will most probably fly with GE F414. It’s an engine they are already working with and a higher thrust version is already planned, just in case Kaveri-NG doesn’t take off.
Given the size of the platform, I wonder why they can’t put a larger radome/radar on the aircraft. Hope they do so..
The radome is already pretty massive. It just looks puny compared to the platform. They can pack it full of processing units and APUs.

CABS has been entrusted with Design and Development of Airborne Surveillance Systems. The envisaged system will have uniform surveillance performance over full 360 degree coverage. The front end of the Radar and the Identification Friend or foe (IFF) systems shall be housed in an ellipsoidal radome on top of the fuselage installed using pylons. In addition suitable mechanical structures to transfer the air loads will be designed and housed in the radome. The radome also houses parts of the liquid cooling system(piping structure) and ladder system for maintenance.
Diameter of the radome (of the order of) 10.0 m
Height of the radome(of the order of) 2.0 m
Radome shape Ellipsoidal
Weight of the radome Shells (about) 1500Kg
Electromagnetically transparent in S and L band
Withstand aerodynamic loads on the radome as per flight envelope of wide body aircraft.
The radome shall have lighting detectors/dischargers and should have surface which will not permit ice accumulations. The radome shall have 4 shells (3 in case of design change) and shall be easy to install /de-install as seen in figure 2.
The envisaged will have 4 faces arranged in a rectangular /square configuration (see Fig 3). The shells shall have suitable attachments to the antenna panels/supporting structures.

AWACS India model based on Airbus A330. The platform is yet to be confirmed though, with a choice between Boeing 767, Il-76 and A330.
Mini Brahmos?
Is there something i’e missed, isnt it the same as the air launched Brahmos on that picture above?
Different. Current air launched brahmos is almost full sized brahmos. Brahmos-NG/M is way smaller.
It looks like Brahmos ‘mini’ has been renamed Brahmos-NG and a Su-30Mki would be able to carry 5 of them.
How long until Bollywood creates a masterpiece with Tejas, MKI, and other jets in a Top Gun type movie?
The most expensive movies are $35 million or less and the highest earnings are in $100 million range. MoD can’t be bothered to lend the resources for more than a few minutes of footage. Give it a decade or so till the budgets reach the level for half decent CGI.

LCH TD-3 all painted up.
