The prototypes of AMCA will fly with 90 KN engine, the final engine will be 110 KN class. The engine would be developed in India with foreign assistance.

Yet another AMCA configuration. The graphics guy probably was down to three quarters of his old monk while doing the canopy.

What does he mean by not satisfactory – and who were the participants in the tender?

C295. The rest did not participate because of very small numbers. The An-32 upgrade contract was already being extended, so they can wait for MTA.

Reports are coming in that the Avro replacement tender has been scrapped. The demand shall be met by HAL-Ilyushin MTA.

I thought Dhruv was crashing suspiciously often before, but many of the accidents seemed to be pilot error.

Two Ecuadorian crashes in a single month, with such a small fleet? What is going on?

Their crash rate seems to be much higher than in Indian service, where they are really being pushed to the edge.

Total no of deliveries approx under 200 with 11 crashes.

IA- Approx 100 nos with 3 crashes

IAF- Approx 50 nos with 2 crashes

    IN- 8 nos

    CG-4 nos

    BSF-7 nos with 2 crashes

    Nepal- 3 nos

    Maldives- 2 nos

    Mauritus- 2 nos

Ecuadorian Air force- 7 nos with 4 crashes

The remaining sold to misc civil operators.

problem is, why the serviceability is so low? it might be interesting to compare serviceability of different types of aircraft they have

    http://www.sunday-guardian.com/news/russians-go-slow-sukhoi-fleet-in-trouble

The serviceability is low because all the aggregates had to be shipped to Irkutsk for overhaul, who weren’t doing an excellent job of it. HAL has now taken over the overhauling of Su-30s and their availability should now be comparable to MiG-29 and Mirage-2000 which are overhauled in India (around 75%).

India, does not have the knowhow and expertice to build the different fan stages of and AL-31FP, nor do they build the Nozzles of the engines.

    Nope.

    http://ajaishukla.blogspot.ru/2015/01/hal-gives-air-force-first-overhauled.html

    HAL overhauls first Su-30MKI.
Not sure about the claim about being the first overhaul facility worldwide- after all, Irkut overhauled Su-30s before.
That aside this is big news for IAF fleet availability.

Btw, HAL delivered its 150th Mki along with first HAL overhauled bird. That should put the numbers of Su-30Mki in service to be around 200.

Maybe a dedicated facility for the type outside OEM country, just like Mirages and MiG 29. With a dedicated overhaul facility, MiG-29s availability rates are now comparable to Mirage 2000.

Mi-26 at 11660 ft above sea level. It is carrying 8-10 tons of cargo every sortie to that altitude.

OTO Molera’s 127 mm guns have been chosen. Phew.

The November 2013 tender stipulated that three of the 13 naval guns would be imported and the remaining 10 licence-built by state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) at Haridwar, 200 km north of New Delhi.

The MoD also wanted the vendors to undertake production, quality control and timeline guarantees for the BHEL-produced naval guns but without providing the vendor with executive or supervisory authority over the public sector company.

BAE Systems opposed this arrangement, and in an official statement declared its unwillingness to accept the “disproportionate level of risk” in the tender.

Industry sources said OTO Melara has no such reservations as BHEL has been licence-producing its 76/62 Super Rapid Light gun since the mid-1990s. The contract will require special clearance by the MoD’s Defence Acquisition Council, however, as India’s defence procurement procedure (DPP) discourages solitary bids.

The DPP provides for exceptions based on operational exigencies, of which the 127 mm gun procurement is one, IN sources said.

OTO Melara will also require a special endorsement from the DAC for the 127/64 LW gun as it is a subsidiary of Finmeccanica. In January 2014 the MoD accused Finmeccanica affiliate AgustaWestland of corruption in the sale of 12 AW101 helicopters.
