Vats ryte.
(Oh, being English I’m sure it should be spelt defence. It’s bad enough getting Latin wrong – are you an evil twin?!).

Cheers Shgorty. Strangely the Typhoon had my initials.
I guess I must be overeducated. I can also spell better than Flood.

And ignore any post by Flood in the General Discussion forum. the mans off his rocker. His contributions to the Historic board are generally very good though.

1) haven’t heard it. Which episode and time please?
2) Able, (Bravo?), Charlie, Dog, Easy and Fox would be A, B, C, D, E, F companies. It’s outside of the phonetic system – why I can’t say.
3) Drill Sergenat is a senior NCO in charge of training, similar to the Resgimental Sergeant Major in the British Army. Imagine God, with a louder voice…
4) Cause in this case would be ‘the cause’ as an example, the anti-war demonstrators ’cause’ is to stop the war, the IRA’s fight was for ‘the cause’ – ie, for the fulfillment of their aims on a wide scale.

My involvement with historic aviation is not linked at all with aircraft – rather with veterans of a wartime fighter squadron. All by chance too. This did spring out of an interest in warbird shows at duxford and model building / reading, and a good friend who wis an AA gunner with the Raf Regt during thewar. Since coming on this forum though, and attending the meet ups and so on, I have made (at least I think I have) some friends from diverse backgrounds, and have had many opportunities to have a link more tangible thn that of watching aircraft flying around. There was no plan or thought to any of it – it just kind of happened. It’s a funny old life, but I would say my link to the warbird community (a small link only) is only as a result of this board, and through it I have had some wonderful off-the-cuff opportunities just that bit more special. I’ve seen some behind-the-scenes or more personal views of some great aircraft, and that is something I will always be able to appreciate, and as I say, it was never through pursuing or asking for anything. The people on here are wonderful, and that is what sets us apart from most other boards – it’s a real and actual community of sorts.
It does look like a burger, you’re right.
