Eeeelser Meeeeeeeertenz!
Great film. One character was called Jim Earnshaw wasn’t he?
Haha. read between the lines. Good one Chris, absolutely spot on!
“Do you actually like aircraft at all?”
Yes. If it’s got one engine, a prop, one set of wings and seats one, has guns in said wings, and a combat history between September 1939 and May 1945. And goes:
“NNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”
“I suspect you may be mistaking the Yak 11 with the Yak 52 here.”
It could be a Hairy Himalayan Hill Yak with wheels on its hooves for all I care. It’s a piece of junk. They’re all pieces of junk. You don’t have much taste Chris (except for Janie), but at least you don’t rave about Jumbo’s and Airbuses, I’ll give you that.
Actually, I’m not sure I do like aircraft. They make my eyes sting, my skin dry, and I keep farting whenever I go in one. You can’t smoke, the food’s rubbish, and you get touched up by a bloke in a uniform at each end. Planes are crap.
He must be so embarrassed that the whole world now knows that he fancied that ugly creature.
I suppose thats about all you could expect from a Marine through.

“Ah, so if Janie is a Mustang, what is a Yak 11????”
Some old Russki piece of crap. A lawnmower with protrusions. Third ugliest damn thing in the air after Skyraiders and TF51’s.
I drink the developer for my mind. It’s the bleach-fix that screws the hair up. But, I now have an OFMC hat to wear (my first civvy hat for a long time, bar my Keffiyeh’s) and that keeps my follicles protected.
So, was that the wrong Janie website then?
And has Alexis still not found out why Maurice took his Mustang home? My word, that’s not very astute of him. I thought that the whole position was cystal clear. My my.
MB5 GT
Real Mustangs didn’t have bubble canopies.
I like Mustangs too – but I talk to ex-test pilots who flew both when loaded with fuel and ammo, and with armaments that weren’t half the weight they should have been…..
Funnily enough, there is a disagreement between two veteran pilots I spoke too (both highly regarded) as to which was the best between Spit and Tempest. Thats performance-wise. The Tempest was clearly a better gin platform, and had greater survivability. (I mean gun platform, but left the error in anyway!)
I guess, like anything, you have to consider the role. And for a long-range escort the P51 was tops.
Typhoons and Tempests could both fly rings around the Mustangs at low-level.
“I only have Lglass, all 2,8 “
I hate you! Grrrr!
*walks off to make a cup of coffee, grumbling all the way with jealousy*
Packard? Not until AFTER the Roller had shown the Yanks where they could stick their Allisons. Good old (Yank) Packard boys bought the (English) Merlin engine, and did a bit of licence building.
Two. Shay.
You mean he STILL doesn’t know? Blimey. Perhaps he should post a new thread to ask someone.
As for John Dundas’ parking skills, well…..
