RE: the best of…………
Catch 22 by Josephe Heller, 13th Valley by John M. Del Vecchio, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque all come into the front runners to my mind. Along with Battle Annual 1983 and Mr Clumsy by Roger Hargreaves (a seminal work).

RE: Bowsers
LOL. I meant the term ‘into’!
Agreed, they are vitally important, and of historic value – not only to keep the aircraft flying, but also in appreciating the massive logistical needs of each squadron. Are these ex-RAF?
RE: Bowsers
‘Into’ bowsers? You are kidding, right?
Interesting pic though – any idea of the history/provenance of these?
(serial numbers…..?! sorry, couldn’t resist)
RE: Plane age
Nearly flew with Aeroflop once. would that have beaten wysiwyg?

RE: The end of the topic ratings
I think duck egg blue undersides were the norm by then. From what I gather, there are no other clear pics of these that are generally known (and its only this week that these have even come to light, along with some equally / more rare stuff.) Oh, and the pic is a straight scan off the original negative – its not doctored in any way (nor retouched as yet!).
Can’t abide them new-fangled tin cans myself…..

You have it Frank. Mostly. Ever seen a clear picture of a 238 Sqn Spit before?
