You can pick up Canon Eos 5 bodies for peanuts now, and that will give you a body that you can rely on, and can take a kicking, for years. Add a Canon flash – 540EZ or 550 EX if you can afford them – and a decent lens (28-135 IS is superb and will cover most of what ypou want to do). Problem is, that’s around £800-1000 (new), you won’t, however, have to go and shell out twice.

And stick with film for an a level course, as you will spend most of your time doing black and white darkroom work. The exposure times for Compact Flash cards in an enlarger are scary…..

RE: Typhoon Footage

If only……IF ONLY!

A friend had 5 seconds on a general video, I had another 5 on another, plus a little bit of Tempest stuff off ‘Doodlebug Summer’ out this year on LWT and Meridian. I have yet to find any decent amount of footage in one program. However, http://www.britishpathe.com has a few bits, and there are some tempest mpegs online somewhere (I found them through google when looking for wav files I think).

The third most prolific British singled engined fighter, and the V1’s arch-enemy, and the film makers couldn’t give a toss. How about it Ashley – you reckon you could persuade your bosses to come up with a commercial release of a Typhoon video from archive footage, and a SEPERATE (diifferent planes, different roles) one of Tempests? Make both of us happy!

Still can’t see it. Propagating further life may GIVE meaning or purpose to our lives, but is not THE meaning or purpose of life. Life just is. You may as well ask what is the meaning of the life of an amoeba? plankton? Gareeth Gates?

Thats remembrance of death – not meaniing of life. Did Johnny’s death actually achieve anything? He didn’t even see it coming – 2 Fw190’s loomed up from the channel and downed him and Babe Haddon. Is the meaning of life to be caught from behind? Or to remember someone who went before you? Surely if there is a meaning to life it relates to the present and future prospects of the life of oneself – not the past life of oneself or others. I don’t think that my life is worthy of anything to anyone except in giving life to my daughter and in merely existing (as is hers) Sure, my life impacts on people all over the place in many ways – friends, family, customers, and more in a wider sense, but what meaning? To what purpose is my, or any other life? I see no ‘why’ I see merely ‘is’.

We exist, pure and simple – Clerics dictate that we live to serve God, the governmeent dictates that we live to serve them, wife dictates the same. Is the meaning of life to serve? Or is the meaning of life to be a part of a (therefore pointless) food chain and cycle of life?

I have no regres, as I have fulfilled most of my ambitions (and am still under 30) and am happy in my life. I just don’t see that it has any meaning on a wider scale.

Why must life have any meaning? Why do we presume that we are important enough to have any meaning? Is the world any the richer for your existence?

If it is, then you may have found A meaning of life. Me? I stopped worrying about that a long time ago. Then I worked out that the chicken came before the egg.

I must be bisexual because I type write with both hands on my computer. But I do believe that you are correct in your assumption. I heard it at school, which was long in the past, but I also heard about silver and orange there, so it is probably trustworthy as a memory.
