I didn’t even know there was a movie in the making!!
331 and 332 squadrons at war:
Jack Currie and Wellum
I’ve flown both clipped & cropped.
And I’ve clapped 😀
Lunch awaits you when you are next over!
In that case, on me Tim, and I’ll give you a copy of the book as well. Maybe even an English version!
And would love to know why all these old chaps travel hundreds of miles to events several times a year. Boredom, comraderie, fame, money??
I don’t know, but I am forever grateful they are still doing it. I never met many veterans, living where I live, so the event was for me one of the few chances I’ve had (so far!).
Speaking of legends, here’s three of them coming to NW on Saturday…
I’ve only been to Flying Legends before. NW was my first event outside Duxford. The whole atmosphere at NW was different from DX. Nothing against DX at all, NW is just different.
I met and spoke many of the folks helping out at NW, and they were all extremely friendly and easy going. I was quite overwhelmed to tell you the truth. I never expected such reception at an active airfield.
With these kind of friendly people helping out, I believe that their “aura” and approach easily are transfered to the entire event. When you got that kind of base, the atmosphere will generate itself in positively fashion.
I’ve been to tiny airports in Norway where people acted so arrogant to “outsiders” that it was just not worth the visit. My father, a beginner civil pilot in the late 80’s, travelled an hour away from our home just to be in another club atmosphere than the local flying club, of which he despised.
Thanks.
It was certainly a “people-event”. Very openly and friendly. Could get very close to the aircrafts as well, and people behaved very well too from what I could see.
Must say I took those pictures of the boy and Mr. Spink with mixed feelings! Jealousy and all of that! 😀
PL344 departed with the Buchon from Weald and performed a wide orbit before returning for a low pass, with PL344 port leg hanging in the breeze
Did it come home ok?
Couldn’t help but notice Blairs Spitfire had one of her wheels a tad out when she passed over NW on her way back. Hope everything is alright with that.
Fantastic day(s) though. A forum member got me up in the air just when two Spits and a Hurri came in to land. Amazing to see the formation from the air, and then being second in after the Hurri to NW!
Anyone enlighten me:

Edinburgh is open, but the west coast of Norway is closed.
How is that?
Have they measured the ash concentration over Edinburgh and found it ok, and done the same over Bergen for instance and found it to be dangerous?
I simply don’t get it.
A Norwegian SAS plane have reportedly turned back from a domestic flight between Oslo and Kjevik in the south due to the ash cloud.
Isn’t it a bit odd that LHW is closed while AMS is operating? They’re pretty close to each other. Who knows for sure that the ash concentration is thicker over London than over Amsterdam?
Looks like it’s calming down now anyway. Looks to be ok by Thursday. Cross fingers for no Katla outbreak next weekend! I like UK, but don’t feel like being stranded there!
