I dont think much can be made of the 2 pages of Acars ,im asuming that the 29/259,28/259 refers to pages recieved , now is that just from that one aircraft ?
If thats is the case then it continued to transmit a lot of data after the suposed time of brake up

Reading the BBC On the net , they are saying that wreckage recovered so far DOSE NOT come from the Airfrance aircraft
Also the large Oil slick that was shown , did not come from the aircraft either

Cables – even hydraulic tubes – can, do and are routinely made from the their component pieces as per the drawing specs. No shortage at all! 🙂

Try and go and get the complete system from Boeing and you will find that you cant

I’ve also heard several times the 777 doesn’t have an entirely FBW system as the A320/330/340 do. I’m not sure what the differences are, but as far as I’m aware it’s a slightly different system. Perhaps someone with real technical knowledge can clarify? (C King possibly?)

    Paul

they have done away with the pulleys and cables on the T7 infact we were shown wing installation along with the Hydrulics for the all controll sufaces

whilst at the everett plant we were told it would be a will FBW system for both T7 and The 787 , same with the new generation 737, as it is now a very hard task to get control cabels for the older 737 ie 300,400 and 500 series

Reading one of the dailys seem that AFR recivied a Bomb Threat to this Flight only 4 days ago and one of AFR Pilots has been quoted as saying for so many failures to be record at the same time It could only point to a bomb

I just had a throught after reading that article. What if there was some sort of electrical problem? And that the FDR and CVR lost power before the aircraft met its fate. If so, they might not reveal a bloomin thing.

Speculation perhaps, but not without precedence.

I belive both have a sperate battery supply , just incase of a main electrical failure, so should have recorded right up to the last few seconds
with reports of 2 wreckage araes located Im assuming that this aircraft has broken up in flight

I think that we should talk about this as it may affect all of us who fly , wither as professionals or as passengers
Everything that is discussed is of uniformed opion, noboby knows the true facts, what we have is speculation from the media
all we are doing is puting forward sugestions to what might have happened
I have my own theory and other have theirs ,
This is not intertainment and if anyone who thinks it is , is either very twisted or sick

when I heard about this I hope that it was just a electrical fault that had knocked the radios out but as the day drew on my worst fears were confirmed
My condolances go out to all those who have lost some on this flight
It makes you realise how vunrable you are espcially when you are about to cross the Atlantic the day after this terrible disaster

My own thoughts about what has been reported makes me wonder if one of the engines may have become detached during the trubulance , I wouldnt say it is impossible for lighting to puncture the fusalge,Just find it hard to belive that it did

As for finding the wreckage the US navy have in the past had great sucess in finding lost Subs, and Nuclear bombs that were lost in mid air crashes during the 60s if you have the chance read the book Blind Mans Bluff ( the cold war Submarine war)and the process is explained ,

You can’t, but it looks like the video is zoomed in really rather a lot and the No.1 is partially obscured by a mound of earth, which will block a proportion of the sound. It would be interesting to know exactly how far away the person shooting it was.

    Paul

It,s about quater of a mile from the mound to the ramp,Missed its startup as we were waiting to do a factory tour

I think a better way to approach it is to stick to the facts. Oversimplifying that a wheel falling off is a non-event or a matter of no concern is stupid. Colgan is very lucky that it was only 1 wheel and didn’t damage the aircraft as it departed the axle.

kevinwm. Yes, a lot of scrutiny is being put towards the regionals since the Colgan crash in February. I think it’s long over due and hope some real changes come from this to improve safety for everyone. Pilot Fatigue is becoming a focus which every pilot can attest there being a need to revamp the rules by which we operate.

WD, the horror stories that I have heard shocked me , Im in a very heavly regulated Industry and well paid for the hours I do , I would be certain that If i was to do the things talked about then I would writting this from a we cosy cell
If Whats been going on in the Regionals if I Im led to belive is true , Im surprised that there hasnt been More Incidents that what have occured
One Intresting story that I have heard about and may be you might have as well, a Major US Carrier was aloud by the FAA to use no certified Engineers to service and repair aircraft
Now If this carrier was doing this then what have the regionals been getting away with , with consent of the FAA

I’m no expert, but having seen the video clip a few times it strikes me that this latest incident appears (And I stress ‘appears’) to be a maintenance issue rather than a part/s failure.

    A probable Main Bearing Collapse

I think that only option here that could be ruled out is Pilot Fault,
I have heard that there is a major investigation into Regional airlines ongoing in the States due to the amount of Mishaps that have occured over the last Few Years

Great shots there Rab, good to see you back again.:D:D
Scotty, I think that only a few guys actually knew that they were heading for Glasgow, I only heard about 15min before the first one landed ,There was a flight plan which had them going over the GOW ,so it was abit of a surprise
Both Herks are HC130P, lots of extra lumps and bumps on them and inflight refuelling Pods

A quick look on the BAA schedule has the morning flights as a twotter and the later flight as a Saab

You will need to goto Kirkwall for the Islanders as thats were they are now based , dont know what colour scheme they are in
I have to admit I thought they might of painted the twotters back into the Loganair colours , took them long enough to repaint them into the flybe scheme
We can only live in hope
