    Funny article.

A friend of mine familiar with some folks at Airbus is convinced that VS are not going to pay for even half of those A330s. Seems his bosses were frantically searching for a new owner for some cancelled air frames.
Of course, that is just juice from the grapevine and I submit it as such.

I guess he will be picking up the SIA orders , maybe this is SIA two free tickets :diablo:

    Agreed.
I’d bet that even now, if WW wanted blood, he could shut down VS in months with new services from BA.

WW might just be tightening the screws on VS
The Start of the all Business class from LCY in September and going Head to head on the las Vegas route

I think you meant ‘nemesis’ rather than ‘hubris’, mate.

    This was hubris.

    You’re quite right, though. 🙂

Thats about one of the funniest articles i have read ,Im sure That WW is shaking in his boots at the thought BRS i s going to bid for BA ( 4 free tickets on VS)
It just gose to show how much a threat BA is to Virgin and How little a threat Virgin is to BA

You may be onto something here – take a look at this commentary:

    http://www.glgroup.com/News/Virgin-Atlantic-Flirts-With-Jobs-Cull-41037.html

No wonder VS is performing a “u-turn” so quickly after boasting about profits 😉

Its telling it like it is Virgin are up S**** Creek and have been for some time , I think SRB is going to come down to earth with a major bang and Unfortunetly its VS staff thats going to feel the brunt of it

Get real kevinwm, if the passengers are not booking the seats there is no reason why the flights should be there..

According to SRB his company is doing wonderfull just posted a profit and is out doing all of the other british carriers ,( that would make me think hes getting plenty of bums on seats)in fact he awarded his staff 2 free tickets to anywhere in the world
Next week he telling 600 of his Staff BYE (maybe hes told a little white Untruth)

Only a fool is going to operate an empty aircraft

SRB by any chance , he been made out to be one By his Parent Company espcially over the so called Profits and with todays announcement just adds to that

On the other hand, why don’t you and your friends start making massive bookings for the winter period, thereby helping the unlucky 600 keep their jobs? Did I hear you say ‘can’t afford it’? …

I can afford to Fly but chose to fly with a company who’s Boss dose not make outrageouse claims slating other companies while his own gose down the pan

Nor can others – and therein lies the problem.

You could, of course, suggest the the fantastic Mr Brown of Westminster that he and his gang of 400 do a bit of travelling in the winter. I am sure that the taxpayer would be happy to pick up the tab. I, for one, would but only for single outbound tickets.

Cant agrue with you there 🙂

Heres you 2 free tickets and you’re P45 goodbye!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel really sorry for the staff who are going to lose their jobs and have been mislead By the egotistic SRB he can not be trusted whats so ever

In this, the first week of sales, the service is 400% ahead on its predicted budget and some services are already oversold!

    Fantastic news for BA.

It,s been a long time in coming and I dont know why WW took so long to start this service up , KLM and Lufthansa both operate A319, B738 business class flights both operated by Privat Air
So what if BA decide to use the old concorde flight numbers , its a tribute to Concorde and will make sure that Concorde,s association with BA will never die

How long before MOL suggests converting all his baggage holds into new seating sections – double decker 737’s anyone? 😉

Why have seats , just squeeze them in

Indeed, but you have to hand it to SRB for working publicity.

Compare what SRB and WW have been saying publicly in the last couple of weeks, then compare the difference in public (rather than those with an aviation interest) perception of where VS and BA are financially at the moment.

    1L.

This really intreast me , Talking to crew and hearing comments on my last flight from Seattle , would lead me to think that WW is over stateing the gloom and Doom and with SRB talking Up his own , it makes me think that he is still in seriouse trouble .
Im seeing something Im not sure what it is , but I think that there is going to be something big soon and BA will be at the centre of it and guess who is going to be the loser , and I dont think its WW

Dont belive everything that you read , The inside grapevine say other wise , about 4 months ago a certain airline was on very thin ice , then announced a profit
I wonder were all the money came from ? Asia by chance and those A330 that he has ordered
I might be wrong but didnt a Asian company not long ago drop a order for the A330,s

    Deano
so what is your definition of a crash ?
It was an Uncontrolled landing ( It wasnt where the Pilots wanted it to land) it wasnt able to taxi to stand , and the passengers had to use emergency slids to exit the aircraft and the one that nails it for me the frame was writen off due to the wingbox being twisted ( you dont get that in a normall landing)

and heres another definiation on line see number 5

Ok I have to agree on the A380 , but the T7 was a crash in My book

Crash: to cause (an Aircraft) to land violently, resulting in severe damage or (of an aircraft) to land in this way

Source Collins Concisie Dictionary Third edition

Think that would cover the BA T7 :p

    Well Hello,

“Should we not worry a little ?”

The answer it seems is a resounding “NO”

I do so hope you are right.

    Alex

Do you or have you acutually flown? if so what types of aircraft have you flown on ?
There isnt one aircraft type flying at this moment that hasnt experinced a crash, but to condem A330 because of 1 incident is just Stupid

Its all right to quote the experts on these acars messages , but what is the context , are they the symptoms of a failure or is it the reason behind the failure
We dont realy know and until the black boxs are located and the data examined we can only guess what happened to this aircraft
I think to much is being read into these messages by the media hoping that they will be first to solve this mystery
