Really, skycruiser?
Obviously you know what you’re talking about, so why would this be the case?
In South Africa , we flew capetown-Joburgh on a 737 and the cockpit door was open all the way

That would sound about right for the timing with it leaving about 7pm I was nearly tempted to keep a listen out for it coming back in case it went to Stand 8 again since that is one of the very few Stands that you could get some night shots through the Terminal windows.
The lights are quite orange but that can be partly rectified by the Digi camera or in photoshop, I always shoot RAW mode anyway which helps in dealing with strong colour casts.
Only problem with Stand 8 at GLA is that when I’ve been in and looked at night there is often a KLM aircraft towed over to a Stand in front of it.
Kevin keep an eye open for it tomorrow if you are in the area, decent forecast and Easterlies again but you know Glasgow it will probably take ages for the low mist to burn off.
Fred.
should be up in Abedeen all day 😡 😡 as usual

One thing that no one has mentioned is If the so called terroist has managed to get past the passengers and has disarmed the Steward , he now has a fire arm ok , now he dose not need to open the cockpit door a couple of well place shots throught the Bulkhead compartments and both pilots are gonners and with no other way into the cockpit what do you do
appart from kiss your backside godbye

After a few hours at Prestwick today to shoot a departing Polet Antonov 124 taking vehicles to Iraq I managed to get out to Glasgow in time for the delivery flight of Globespan’s brand new 737-800 so here are some photos of it.
Like the first one it arrived without the Blended Winglets which are to be fitted very soon at Southend along with the addition of the full Globespan tail colours.
It departed about 7pm on a training flight and will probably be seen in and out of Glasgow again on Tuesday if it does the same as the first one so there is a little time left yet for the locals to see it before those big Winglets are added.
Fred.
Did it return as i arrived at Glasgow about 20:50 and there was a 737 with the basci GSM colours on Stand 8

hmm, never thought of that one.
Good point there!
Most Polices forces allready recognizise this, you can either die trying to stop it or sit back and be killed , If it ever happened I know which choice i would take

Folks, there have been some excellent arguments for and against arming pilots and some excellent suggestions for alternatives.
I guess we have to accept that pilots ARE being armed. Personaly I find a good last line of defence and would feel much more relaxed when flying knowing that the folks up front can defend their keep and very likely put an end to any wannabe 9/11 copycat.
Those of you who do not like the idea, well that is unfortunate.
To those of you that have suggested so, are you realy saying that you will not fly if there is a possibility the pilots are armed on your flights? At what point will you decide to fly or not to fly? Also how will you get to your destination if the only financialy viable option is with an airline that arms its pilots? Do you realise that you would be choosing not to fly for personal reasons and therefore liable to loose the entire fare?
A few questions to chew over 😀
How will you know if the pilot is armed ,will he tell you as part of his pre takeoff speech, or will he announce that a sky marshall is on board,
You could only asume that the crew is armed and this alone could be enought to deter
