wow…. almost everyone here has their own big companies, I guess. To see this much support for the BA management and not the slightest of sympathy for the crew who does the JOB. Do guys want to have slaves, too? I mean come on you gave them food what else they can ask for.

The Majority of BA workers have done their bit so that the company can survive this global downturn, Yet the minority are threatening to put thousands of people livelihood at Risk,
The same people who have taken pay freezes so that the cabin crew can have a Job

Perhaps not. My job drains me mentally each day. But it does not affect the safety of people around me.
But what has that got to do with anything?
What makes cabin crew so high and mighty that they should remain insulated from the industries turmoil?
Do the mechanics, ground crew or baggage handlers deserve more of a cut to make up for the greedy cabin crew?

If we were to value salaries in conjuction with the importance of the job, then why are Firefighters earning half the wage of train drivers? Why? Because that’s the way it is.

Put up with it or get out I say.

Agreed If you don’t like the conditions the get out and let some else do you’re job, I’m sure there’s plenty of Cabin crews willing to accept the new terms ,which are still better than most other airlines offer

Maybe you should read the recent court case ruling , That BASSA,Unite failed to negotiate with BA when they had the chance ,but were to busy arguing amongst them self
And BA were right to impose the new agreement ,an agreement that the rest of BA workers have already agreed to nearly a year ago

If Im reading another Forum correctly , Someone has told the government to expect large amounts of redundancy quite soon

Then perhaps Air France should explain why the wheel spacer was left on a work bench when the left MLG was re-assembled the night before. This caused the forward wheels of the bogey to rattle under speed like supermarket trolley wheels, dragging the plane to the left of the runway, which is when it hit the famous strip of metal.
Had the wheels not dragged the plane to the left, the plane would never have gone over said metal strip.

However, despite the spacer being found missing on the intact MLG in the wreckage and the spacer being found later in the hangar in which the same plane had received maintenance on its landing gear the evening before and the clearly visable scuff marks on the runway leading off to the left, the french authorities as taken no interest in finding the truth.

Fair enough, this titanium piece of metal was not a licenced replacement, but it was only a means to an end. It was a link in a chain.

The chain started with the captain taking an overweight aircraft to a runway with a tail wind, then the MLG dragged his aircraft to the left. The wheels were punctured. The fuel leak was initiated. With the aicraft continuing to drag to the left, they had to take off. Then, the engineer shut down the perfectly servicable engines without command from the Capt or Co Pilot and when the aircraft was far too slow. I’m certainly not judging the crews actions, they were under pressure, but it was that unfortunate mistake that sealed the aircraft’s fate. She stalled out of the air.

Air France Maintenance, the flight deck crew and Continental all share blame.
The airport too, for not sweeping the runway for debris often enough.

To me all this makes me think the french authorities are focused on blaming someone else, someone not under the french flag, at the very least a cover up to protect certain parties.

I think we all knew that the French would not be taken any of the blame for this accident .It was a well known fact in the industry that Air France maintance record on Concorde was some what lacking to say the least

Nice shots Kevin – I have yet to see this beast in the flesh.

I’ve managed to get all three now this was the last one ,I had seen it at Everett field last year but it was kind of obstructed so couldn’t get a decent shot of it

Is there any evidence that this was the case?

with the report saying this has happened twice before , then I would guess that the fault has been entered into the maintenance log of the aircraft and that should have been checked out by engineers
The airline should have followed procedure laid down in the maintenance manual provided by Boeing or contacted a engineer at Boeing for advice

Its not the first time that information provided by a manufacture has been incorrect

Not Knowing the ins and out I’m only suggesting why the finger is being pointed at Boeing

It seems more than a little perverse to point the finger at Boeing.

Surely maintenance of electronic components and the replacement of malfunctioning units is the responsibility of the operator, not the manufacturer?

If a component is faulty and the airline has reported that to Boeing, and Boeing has allowed it to continue flying , then they could well be the firing line

    T5

It might have worked in 2005 here in Commercial. But elsewhere it was not so successful.

What a wealth of volunteers we had then. These days people are a little more reluctant to seize the poisoned chalice.

    Moggy

so there is a good chance that it would work again in this forum?

As for getting volunteers , how close dose the Webmaster and the Editor of Keypublishing work , would it be an idea to ask Key if they would put up a reward , like a 50% discount on a subscription to one of their publications for those who were chosen as Mods

I know from other groups who had a problem securing committee members that this kind of approach works

Well, if you’re a Nigerian with intentions of trying to detonate a bomb on a plane, surely you’d just remove the bracelet anyway before your misdemina? The only benefit they’d bring would be the ability to spot trouble makers at the point they remove their bracelet!

so if you object to having this device fitted , then you are a trouble maker/terroist?
