If I may interject briefly having been here for some time

1) We have tried elections for moderators and it all ended in grief.

2) I’d love that job. But who’d referee on complaints about me? (Incredible as it may seem there has been one or two)

3) Lots of changes are made to the board subtly and to make it all run better. If a change is made and enough people yell “I don’t like it” it does get changed back as in the current case. No change is ever going to leave everybody happy.

Point 1 OK I take you’re point on that ,but we need some kind of say in those who are put forward as Mods
Point 2 If you took up the job and if some one had the balls to complain about you then that would be the Webmasters domain

Point 3 I think that mods should stick to watching over the post and such , but making big changes to the forum should be up to the Webmaster not the Mods
Like the moving of the Images thread /Group, that should have been done by the Webmaster not a mod , but when we did complain nothing was done and a lot of people did voice their opposition to this , only to be told the decision was final and ” this is a Dictatorship” , comments like that have inflamed and angered quite a few members

I have watched a few threads that yourself and Deano have presided over and I have to say I was more than impressed by both of you’re approach to handling these difficult threads and my hat goes of to you both. You have both earned my respect maybe those others mods should take a look at you’re approach

As for putting my name forward , I have just given the riens up from moderating a group after 4 years and Im enjoying the free time and the peace

Ren raised some points of concern to him. I’ve met him. I don’t think he would have started this thread without having genuine concerns. I suspect his current absence is work related.

But what of Bmused55, kevinwm, FLYBYDONNI and T5? At least two of these have long and strong posting histories here. They know how to debate so why the sudden attack on a moderator followed by silence? Dean’s giving everyone a golden opportunity to express any concerns about the forum. He’s even trying to engage the webmaster regarding this. Why aren’t people having their say? You have the chance to influence the operation of the commercial forum. To possibly open a dialogue with the webmaster to offer suggestions on how to improve this place. Maybe to bring it back to its heyday when discussions on numerous topics were pages long, with the sharing of knowledge and offers of assitance. There was even a sense of community.

So what happens now? Do we continue to let the forum decline to the point where it is pointless to continue? What would you like to see happen? Should the photo side be re-merged, particularly so for the commercial forum? Should the Code of Conduct be re-addressed? Should the trip report section be brought back into the commercial forum? How can traffic be improved? How can discussion be encouraged? Should the webmaster be a person we can identify and interact with in the same way we do with the moderators?

hats off to you for allowing this tread to continue and getting the Webmaster involved , you have done something that I thought I would never see happen
Is the webmaster going to listen to us ?The ones who make this forum what it is and will he do something to encourage and stimulate debate,instead of letting a moderator stifle it?
I didn’t attack a moderator , I just stated a fact KEV35,

One thing I would say to the Webmaster talk to the old timers and listen to them , be open to the members don’t hide away like you do just now

I’m glad that Boeing finally got it flying , but I’m wondering whats going on.
When the A380 took to the skies we were inundated with news and press releases about it for weeks on end , the papers were full of articles on it ,but there is nothing about the 787 ,And I’m wondering why?
I’m also Concerned with the amount of wing flex on take off ,just doesn’t look quite right to me , was this Full weight take off or was it a empty weight take off ?

to any one working around Glasgow airport GSM have been on a sticky wicket for some time now .
This is probably about the third time I have heard GSM being in the same situation and has come as no surprise, the only surprise is the fact they survived ,but for how long ?
I have used GSM once , but after that and from the word coming from the ramp have chosen not to use them again,just incase
