Interesting thought Junk Collector, don’t think that the Russians have restored a Spitfire yet.:)

So they are going to restore it too. Wonder what’s left of it?

Well it is still good money as far as I can see, how many people actually earn the national average? I know many that do not earn anywhere near it.

I appreciate what the aeroplane is and I look forward to seeing it fly hopefully in the near future. It is a DH9 after all said and done, not a look-a-like.
I personally don’t get too wound up about serial numbers or registration numbers, at the end of the day a car or motorbike with an age related number and not the original number doesn’t make it any less of the vehicle it is supposed to be than the same vehicle with an original number and it is the same with aeroplanes as far as I’m concerned, nothing airworthy or roadworthy is 100% original, in so far as what it was when first built, because along the way stuff wears out ,corrodes, rots and gets replaced.A brilliant achievement no less and I’m just glad there are people with the wherewithal to do these things
I am amazed how an enquiry about the book’s progress evolved into all this, interesting though it is.

I was worried about being confused with sopwith.7f1, so just to clarify I am not him and my post was a genuine enquiry with no hidden agenda or anything. Thanks

Interesting, I did not know that Rolls Royce had a share in Phillips and Powis. That Kestrel engined trainer was a lovely looking aeroplane, shame there isn’t a survivor around.

Thank you again Andy and sorry to hear about your family worries, I can understand where you’re coming from. All the best.
