This is just a simple question, but is/has there actually been any suggestion that the recovered wreckage of X4593 might become the basis for a rebuild project?
Haven’t seen anything official only supposition on this thread.
Thanks for the link Andy, it also leads on to the excavation of Spitfire P9503 on 22 Sept on Salisbury Plain. Hadn’t heard about that one or did I miss it on here?
Thanks Mark12
So is that a mk14 or a mk18 Mark12?. Thanks for posting the gen by the way.
I have a copy of this film, but it’s on a tape format I no longer have a player for 🙁
Well sconnor you could get it copied onto DVD, worth doing 🙂
If you want me to I can ask in email.
I am rebuilding his old Air Force Auster T7 WE552 back to flight that he used in HK and we often communicate, seems like a really top gentleman! He was so chuffed about her survival and rebuild he even gave me his pilots notes(with jottings) and personal photos and negs (of him with WE552 in HK) to go with the plane as she moves on through her life. I can only but ask….
Cheers
Anthony
That would be superb Anthony, if you could. There’s no harm in asking. Thanks
Well just to keep you informed Fremantle didn’t reply to my enquirey, so looks like the search has drawn a blank. If they do have the good grace to reply I’ll let you know.
Mine came just now, only had a quick look so far but really chuffed with it, by what I’ve seen.
The ******s, I’m sulking now.:(
Crickey, I ordered mine with Amazon , thought it wasn’t released till tomorrow. You were lucky and delivered on Sunday.
It was excellent, and covered manufacture, testing, ferrying and service. Unsurprisingly, most of the participants are no longer with us. After thirty-five years it’s a bit of an historic document itself…
I’ve emailed Freemantle to see if it’s available. Waiting for a reply, let you know if I hear something.
Hope it’s rebuild able.
MT818…….Booker.
MH415 Texas…..not yet.
Mark
MH415 is on the way to Australia so I understand.
Fantastic, good for you, I’m jealous. 🙂
Yay my copy has arrived.
It’s just occurred to me that it was 10 years ago this week that I flew alongside G-HURI around Malta.
So were you in the Spitfire then or the camera plane?
