Rlangham,
Go to Breighton you know its right. Trust me on this its fantastic up there always busy.
Warbirds, a brace of Percivals, plenty of opportunities to view the aircraft at close quarters… all we need is the weather now!
Of course, both events take place over two days – why not do one apiece?
They have a website at http://www.northcoatesflyingclub.co.uk/ but it’s misbehaving at the moment – stretch those legs a little further north would be my advice!
An Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros operated quite happily from the grass at this years Memorial Airshow at Roudnice – dust and all, used just a little more runway than the P-51. I’m almost certain that JP’s are now prohibited from operating from grass.
I think that the outpouring of excitement, speculation and anticipation seen on this forum is great – a positive and welcome indication of peoples love for the event, performers and machines. I’ve enjoyed every ‘Legends that I’ve attended, it’s the FA Cup Final of the airshow calendar and something we should be proud of. Unfortunately I can’t be there this year but wish everyone a safe and enjoyable show and I look forward to seeing some superb pictures on Monday morning!
I wonder will the ‘Flyboys’ Nieuport and Sopwith still be around after filming. I bet Taff ties them down to stop them getting away before the Bash!
(Not that Ken and Andrew will need too much persuading!)
That would be nice but the filming schedule is very tight so we’ll just need to wait and see how they get on.
The Buchon will be out on the line but won’t be flying. As for other content we’ve sent a few invites out to the regular Summer Bash crowd but would always welcome newcomers – especially if the aircraft type falls into the historic/sports/PFA bracket – contact the airfield for further information if you fancy flying into Breighton for the weekend.
no Taff was there as well, and i spoke to him, what a Pillock! Daz they did try to get up there but beat a retreat due to weather. might try tommorow he said.
One guy wears a shell suit – the other wears a 60 year old fighter aircraft and allows two-faced shell-suited yoofs to visit his own airfield and have his picture taken in front of said machine… need I say any more?!
To everyone who enjoyed themselves, please come again.
Nice one Daz – here’s one for you – this was wet Breighton on Sunday!
I left about the same time too. It was going to be another 35 minutes til the Cat was due to arrive. Overheard that RACo’s Hurricane and Mustang turned back around Newcastle because of the weather.
On Saturday the Mustang and Hurricane managed to get quite a bit further than Newcastle with the cloud base getting lower and lower… reluctantly Tony and Brian opted to return to Breighton. On Sunday the conditions at Breighton deteriorated at about 1300 and didn’t improve until about 1530/1600 so the trip was scratched once more – sorry to everyone who had hoped to see us display – roll on summer!
Mustang and Hurri’ launching and recovering to Breighton each day to participate in our own fly-in.
The wife’s the boss – no chance!!
Today looks good weatherwise – but I’m 30 miles away (at work) and I wouldn’t want to miss it for the world so, not that favourable in my opinion!!
I believe it’s ready to go, everything’s been re-attached, little bit of painting required (cosmetic), just waiting for the word…
Time would have been better spent watching BoB on DVD (or Empire of the Sun, Memphis Belle, Dark Blue World et al) instead of low-budget crud on yawny telly.
Looked like the BBMF trio to me on the news – then the Dak at 8.
