Can I remind people about the Westland WS-70 ZG468
And lo and behold, the same day as the poor financial figures are released MOL comes up again with the pay to use the toilet story as well as taking two of the three toilets out on each aircraft.
Some connection there? I think so. Smoke and mirrors par excellence…

I flew to Doha a few years ago with them and I have to say that in terms of passenger comfort and service they were absolutely brilliant (admittedly I was in business class). When I boarded for the return flight the flight attendant even remembered me from the flight out.
I would fly with them again 🙂
Could have been a better shot of the class 47 duff…. ooops what a giveaway 😮
It’s no more amazing than what Canberra WJ643 had to put up with when flying with the Ferranti Flying Unit out of Turnhouse back in the sixties – the Airpass radar from the Lightning for example
Back in the mid 90s I was offered a trip in a Kamov Ka-32 over the Kola peninsula with a German bloke looking for wrecks from the Great Patriotic War.
Sadly the whole thing was cancelled when an earlier trip failed to produce anything of interest despite involving a local who had ‘detailed knowledge of where the wrecks were’.
another case where the replacement can’t match up with the original. A1 could carry a toilet and a kitchen sink, A-7 manages a flimsy wooden ladder !:diablo:
Ugly looking spud though, but in common with other US types, having one in the UK would be great.
Especially as it has a license built Rolls Royce engine which is why they managed to get a pair into the 1970 Farnborough Air Show in the days before they opened it up to all and sundry.
Will it be at Legends and what colour will the underside be painted?
Will the Chinese be making 10 copies of it for a film made about the force landing, and where will the copies end up after filming?
If they fit motors to the copies and taxy them fast enough will they take off?
If they take off, will the airfield owners ask us not to post pictures?
Will any attempts to recover it be funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund following which will regular appeals be made to the public?
Oops , I had forgotten about the ZB batch of Gazelles. Must try harder next time… I saw the V and thought it might have been a GW1 type designation.
Ah well, back to the day job
Assuming the 1993 date is correct then the only w/o I can find is XX407 Gazelle AH1 written off on 20th July 1993
OK, I’ll be the first to take the bait… :diablo:
Such curves…..
And the Meteor isn’t bad either. 😮
Pity I’ll be in Brighton that weekend.
There’s no guess about it, the Valiant wasn’t specifically designed as a tanker, it was modified to become one.
WyvernFan, can you post the link to that page, I can’t find the rellevant sections?

Footage of the flypast is up on BBC website
I saw an Airtourer flying around the other week (possibly up near Scarborough), one that I vaguely remember seeing being assembled at Staverton back in the early 70s.
