Already posted this once in another thread, but it’s so good it’s worth posting twice…
Given the frequent mention in the media of the tag ‘Baby Branson’ there was an interesting article in today’s Guardian about Branson and the Virgin empire showing how the Virgin tag had been applied to a vast number of enterprises, very few of which actually produced the goods in terms of business success once he had sold them on.
GAAEC reaches the pages of The Guardian in the the article entitled …”How planespotters turned into the scourge of the CIA”
I went out this time last year on QR to DOH in business class in a newly delivered A333. Excellent, and the flight attendant remembered me on the way back. One of the best flights I have been on.
I fondly remember G-ASOF and G-ATDD which used to be permanently ‘beacon outbound’ in the pattern at EDI back in the early 70s.
I think there were three AV-8B fuselages here in the UK left over from the *update* to AV-8B+ status. In addition, I’m fairly sure that there is an AV-8 on display on the DM celebrity row.
Did both the German registered Mil-8s used in a recent Bond film survive? I know that one was used to do a lot of filming down in Long Valley near Farnborough flying each day to and from Denham but there was supposed to be another one around which was going to be blown up. Did that happen? (You can see I’m an avid film goer…).
I think the UK CAA still report seperate traffic figures for BACX which you can download from their website (eventually when you find where the numbers are).
Unfortunately not, I just knew it had been there at some point in the past and wasn’t when I went to view it.
Ooops, I wondered where I had seen the serial mentioned recently…
And what happened to ZD670 that was in the Trocadero in London?
Is this not the one that has gone to GJD at Farnborough for the FAST museum. But what has happened to the spares ship (ZH807?) that they also acquired and were selling the nose from a few weeks ago?
XV744 a GR3 is on display at the Defense Academy in Shrivenham near Swindon. I saw this today.
There was a second one there earlier in the year, but I think it was up for disposal.
Welford is probably the only arms dump to have its own exit from a motorway (signed works traffic only) on the eastbound M4 just before Chievely.
Isn’t there a GR.3 in Chile as well?
