Ok phrozenflame. They did not had infrastructure. With LCA not running on time and still a long way from home they still have to work a lot on that infrastructure. Besides that the parameters of the lca are not altered so they are becoming historical before actual getting to be in service. Whatever the mney realtionship is with western projects. They are faster and atleast do see service and get export orders.
The LCA is a light fighter. It may have same engine as the Saab Gripen but I doubt that it somes near the man machine interface and avionics quality. Besides that even if it the same. The Gripen is flying around and is having fun in getting export orders and several intgresting upgrades. About EF2000. That is much different compared to LCA. And even that is getting introduced… When will the LCA ever see actual service and when will it see other roundels?
I noticed strange bulge between the leading edge and the mainwing. Besides that the attachment of the flap on the frontal side of the wing is a bit unique.
honestly? none… Only they say something about a fin just behind the cockpit being something like ECM. I highly doubt that. It is the antenna for communication located on many other planes. Look at F7… For the rest some details about rear or frantal retracting gear. This one is rearwards for optimizing cockpit space but less good for manual handling.
But nice to see some more close up pics. Hope you enjoyed them.
I have to agree on that. Politicians/diplomats are walking different roads. We know that it has been discussed with the producers. We know it has been discussed bu Musharraf. We know that Sweden says no to Gripen. For the rest we know that ACM is going to Sweden to talk about the Erieye. There is no contract or MOA. There have been a lot of Pakistani press releases. But sofar none from others that give more details. Let us wait what the visit on 29th will bring.
BR may be used for official outlet but looking at postings on the forum I do not see it as an objective forum. I invite others to go there and take a look around. We can share opinions but it is much easier to look there…
http://www.bharat-rakshak.com and then look at the forum… You can look for some topics about Indian products, China or Pakistan. That will be enough to decide without others help.
About LCA. It needs to be seen if it gets into service (as said in the posted article it has a long way to go. And for a plane with three decades history that is pretty long trip right now). Then we have to see whether it gets export successes. At that time there will be more competitors around and not much is known for buyers about Indian export restrictions. Maybe they will have the same rule like Israel. Export is 15% less then national goods..
Well. The Czechs had options. There aint much options for AWACS… And it was the buyer that changed mind not the seller. In Pakistani deals it was often not that situation :p
Anyone can tell me what the price will be of the first production LCA?
The success of the products can be showed in price-quality, timing and acceptance by internal and external customers. Sofar not much compared to other nations. We have seen enough negative reports from the Indian press. We do not even have to add fuel to that. We do not flame but just look at it with critical eye.
Exports? Well. The Druv which is Eurocopter with some Indian specialities (with foreign assistance) is not good enough for hot and high. Now Indian seeks help in marketing it into the world by Israel. I have doubts whether the Yakhunt of India will be sold to other nations. I have doubts whether other will accept LCA or Arjun of the Indian forces are not extremely happy with it. Both are indeed build and developed in India but major parts or assistance is imported.
We have a lot about the first Indian engine. The Kaveri has a long way to go if it ever becomes a success. I don’t think many african nations would opt for the expensive US engine or wait to get a decent engine. And the LCA is not a building block like FC1. That is special designed to plug and play components. The LCA is a nice plane. Nothing wrong with it. But it should have been in service a decade ago. Customers are not buying designs that have been late and expensive.
That remark that India can come a superpower overnight. India has decades of direct help in military programs. We have seen many missiles, tanks, planes, vessels… etc etc… But India is not good enough to join front row with Russia, Israel, China, US and Europe. If India is doing well at the moment then show us Indian produced weapons in foreign services… They may even be copies…
India has not been able to overhaul its planes correctly (That was the conclusion of mig21 supporter from Russia). Bad spare parts and bad fuel. We do understand that the mig21 is the backbone of the IAF. It complained about cracks in the engine blades of the MKI while the cause was FOD. Don’t tell that India will become a superpower overnight. It is a long road just like any other nation. The economic success lately is the result of cheap labour and yes a large pool of engineers. But there is still a difference between engineers in western nation compared with India. And the economic success in India was only for the little few. Large populations are still at the same old level. It was the very clear reason why Congress party has won the election from the Hindu nationalistic party.
Some more pics…

Why bother with the Seaking? its a old helo that is being put to grave by the RN and if they are getting rid of them then you can assume they have no use at all. To carrying on believing that India should keep buying RN is just silly. Get rid of them, invest in bigger Dhruv if need be.
The just finished DRUV was not good enough for hot and high. Building just a new sea version is not short project. The F18E/F were not fast projects… The Big Druv in not going to be that. Just looking at the cost and price history of other projects.
Indian economy is huge and blooming. They are many other very expensive projects. It is about priorities. Just like the fact that Indian were shocked that their nation was busy with latest air superiority fighter while there were many student pilots crashing due the fact that an ordinary jet trainer was needed. Don’t take it personal. But if Indias is still funding LCA and it is there to be introduced… I would put my bet on that one. And there were plans fore 100+ mirage 2000-5? So… Talking about money…
Isn’t it much better to go for more mirage 2000 or LCA and not upgrade old migs? But it surely looks cool. Hope to see real pics.
With a lot of projects being announced as state of the art and with tremendous foreign input they all seemed to end the same. Crediting the one that is not achieving its goals may be noble but unwise. The Indian project that is fully homegrown need to be born yet. It is even debatable if any nation will be able to succeed in all fields to finish top end fighter. The project that is ended as success and achieved even export is something not even discussed. If the twin tailed F5 is fun then why is a plane that looks (but not is) a lot like a mini mirage and started decades ago something we should honour? Just an open view. Nothing anti. I admire the achievements anyway.
