Damage is partially due to explosion (air)pressure and partially particles… Newer missiles like AIM9X know the type of plane they are attacking and even know how to find cockpit area. Older missiles just go for ir signature with some filters for flares. A missiles that hits the plane is failing to explode so missing the real effects. The sovjets got this way the aim9…
