I was at MAN on Monday-Wednesday sadly the viewing park was closed on Wednesday for Concorde. I just want to know how they got in it there as there didin’t seem to be any ‘taxiway’ into the park? Also where the hell is ther Trident going to go? Or is it going in the carpark?
Excellent place, made 102 new ones for me. Well they only had 1 runway last time I went there!!

I droped in to Coventry yesterday and saw THOA depart about 1330. It was operating from the cargo ramp side. Have they built a new terminal over there? If so can you get to it and see anything?
Apart from that there were the normal Air Atlantic(inc 2 DC6, Convair and they seem to have OY-NPA Metro) plus a German C525 and D-CCCC Metro. Why do I never see any Antonovs here??

I have not been to the museum for a few years but where is this bulding going to go? Except where the VC10 and Vanguard are now there doesn’t seem to be much room for it? The reason I have not been reciently is that the admission price is almost that of Duxford for much less to look at.

Nice shots of the Starliner(Connie) think its the same one that was as Sandford in 1992? I went to the old museum at Tiamiami in 1990 and was very impressed. Thinking of going back this year. Well its cheaper to go to Florida for a week than fly from London to Scotland to go to East Fortune on a weekend !

Some good info from flood etc. Sadly the remaining SM-79’s probably went the same way as two ex MEA Avro Yorks and a Bristol Freighter that were at Beriut airport in the early 80’s. In those days the airport was pretty much the centre of the civil war.:(

I think the SM-79 that is preserved at the Caproni Museum in Italy is a ex Lebanese machine? They were used into the early 60’s and did visit the UK on a couple of occasions I think. There was a photo of one in a recient Flypast. I guess they ended their days in Beiruit being blown up like everything else??

According to my Aircraft of the RAF the Hawk 75A was the export version of the P-36A with only a diffrence in armament. The original P-36/Hawk 75 had a fixed undercarriage but was genrally the same as the 75A.

Check out this link for what it could look like

Have visited LHR three times this week while working! Had to visit the Alitalia office at Cairns Lane today just by the end of 27L, shame they were landing on 9L though. Did manage to log a few though. Off to Manchhester on Monday for 3 days via Monday morning at Birmingham.

Try this link http://http://www.kerozen.org/ for a website.
It depends if you want to take photos or just spot? The best place for photos is ‘the mound’ this is next to the taxiway between the terminals. Buy you will miss logging loads of the others.
CDG is really two airports. The older international side has a round, ugly terminal built in the 70’s. The aircraft park around very close saterlites, and some photos can be had. Viewing is ok from outside departures as you can walk right round the terminal. The police wont hassle you unless you go on the narrow path on the outside, which is the place for photos,so be quick!
The other mainly Air France terminal is not so good. The up ramp gives views of the commuter apron. Its just a matter of walking through the terminals getting what you can. Dont forget to visit the vast hall F at the end of this the TAM and JAL park plus some more commuters.
For cheap hotels there is the B&B in Roissy village which I think is about 40 euros a night. Its also under the approach to the AF runways.
As for the police it depaends what side of bed they got out of that day! PM me if you want more.

Excellent I didn’t know that any of the French ones were left. It has certianlly been kept quiet for a long time.

They were mainly ordered by the French in 1939. I think only about half of the large order was delivered before the fall of France. 188 was evaluated by RAE Farnborough in January 1940. The remainder of the order was delivered to the RAF in Egypy and Burma. There were an additional 100 delivered direct to the RAF in 1940. They continued in operation in Burma until 1944. It was developed into the P-40 having the Wright Cyclone replaced by the Allison engine

Perhaps this is one of the Lebanese AF machines that operated into the early 60’s on transport duties? I do agree that the photo does look dated though.

The runway is 1500m, thats puts it on the short side if you compare it with UK regional airports. It must be easier to expand it to the east though? Obviously this depends on landowners. Of course putting in arrester gear could make an interesting addition to jet displays!
I beleive the B52 was flown in from Mildenhall with min fuel, equipment and crew.

I checked out G-WGHB today and the airframe is in a state and wont be flying for some time, if ever. There were no wings present, it is engine less and has no seats fitted, looks like just a shell.. Could not see into the cockpit but I guess its not good. Hopefully it will not be left to rust like the Lightning and Hunter.
