A very sad event, something I just about remember being on the news.
Having reciently visited TFN it was something I thought about at the time. The age old rumor was they built the airport in the wrong place as it was the worse reccomended site. Being in a valley its very prone to poor viz.
One question is what was the PAA 747 doing there? All I can think is that it was a fuel stop enroute somewhere like South Africa? I guess the KLM was on a holiday charter? It’s not avery big airport in the first place so 2 747′ would have filled the place up.

Nice, first time I have seen a A310 in the new HLX scheme, they are pretty rare.

Oh well maybe the weather at STN wasn’t that bad! Not seen Aeroflight before, is that a regular? The 4K TU154 must be for the England game tomorrow, very nice anyway.

Did you get a shot of IGOZ? Any sighting of the Cable and Wireless FR?

Sadly no as it turned off too short for a shot and went straight to the exFLS hangar. No sign of any special scheme RYR’s, had hoped for the dreamliner. Still was a good day, will return for a day in the summer.

remember Seawings very well,if only it could be repeated,eh??
Since those days I have expanded my activities within the realms of aviation enthusiasm to that of being a reggie-spotter,but do you think I could find a list of participants at Seawings….NO!!!!
There-fore I wish to ask if you,or anyone else, has a list for the aircraft which actually displayed over Southampton Water
    many thanks in advance

Don’t worry im permanantly confused  .Sadly not much gets airbourne by the time that get to that spot, its just down to luck. Anything landing is easily graphable. It’s just very muddy at the moment and being south facing would not be much good in the sun. Something that I did not see today. 🙁 . But was a good day out . 37 RYR’s in 3 hours and in the mid afternoon lul.
Also looks like G-IGOZ 737 won’t be around much longer as it arrived in full Corendon.com scheme complete with Turkish flag and tape on G-.

Nice ones there. Where’d you go for the STN shots? It looks like somewhere along the South side near to the ex-FLS hangar. Did you have a car with you?

It was on the northside and you do need a car. From the old terminal entrance turn right and follow the road through the village and then after a mile you will see loads of cars parked on the right. From here you are opposite cargo and can see all movements. Police dont seem to mind everybody parking on the road.

AMS is a great place for spotting have go around once a year. Its not quite as busy as FRA or CDG but is still excellent. CDG is very complicated for a first timer as the terminal area is so enormous. FRA and AMS are similar
Large terrace at AMS which I think is still free? Ok food at the resturant at the terrace entrance(10euros for maincourse and a beer). A small snack bar seems to open at lunchtimes if you are lucky. The central (european )stands and 1/2 long haul are easily seen. The commuter ramp and 1/2 long hauls as well as 2 runways are out of sight. But you will see 95% of movements. Once airside you can walk the (long) length of the terminal.
I have used the Etap hotel a couple of times and it is fine, and cheap at 57euros, the Ibis next door is 79 euros. There is no resturant, or breakfast but I eat at the airport.
