very long since … We try to rehearse the “life” of Bernie Cornfelds Convair CV-240 HB-IMS / N93218.

We are searching for somebody who can tell us – or check sources – about the period, N93218 was parked (stored?, checked?, repaired?) at Prestwick, and when it left to Tel Aviv.

For us Basle spotters, the history of this plane ends in September 1972 (or 18th or 21st), when N93218 left BSL to Prestwick. Here people were told that it had left to Los Angeles, with a first fuel stop foreseen at Prestwick.
But the history says that the plane burnt out 1983 in a hangar fire at Tel Aviv, belonging to IAI at that time.

You will find some pictures of this plane at:
    http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net/browse/registration/HB-IMS/
    http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net/browse/registration/N93218/

More pictures are to come soon, while the comments have to be revised in a few points, considering newer discussions. (Unfortunately texts are in German onl

BTW: You might find a lot of pictures on http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net with a connex to the UK world of aviation, starting as early as August 16th, 1923, when the first scheduled flight of Handley Page Transport Ltd passed through the earlier Airport Basel-Sternenfeld (http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net/albums/album_id/24/), later followed by all the famous large biplanes of Imperial Airways.

I got a b/w picture of Beech D.18S NC80014, taken at Basel-Birsfelden (1st airport at Basel, Switzerland, activ from 1929 until about 1950. All scheduled and charter traffic changed to Basel-Mulhouse – now EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg) by 1946.)

It seems that NC80014 is A-74, later registered as F-OAHI (?) and F-BEHI – but I’m not able to verify the whole story due to the lack of data even in the web… Does anyone know the full history of this airframe?

At the moment the picture is visible at URL http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net/bilder/01_pic/large/14l.jpg .
It will later on be integrated in the framework of http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net, the website about the aviation photography at our base airport.

    Thanks for every help.
    Rolf
