I think when used sensibly Facebook is OK. It’s no different to checking the posts on any discussion forum in my opinion, but you have to be sensible on there.
I would never “friend” anyone I worked with, you could have posted something which you wouldn’t want your work colleagues or boss to see and you hear of folk getting sacked for stuff they have posted on Facebook.
I never have my posts viewable by “public” – only friends, and some posts are for certain selected friends only.
I have found cousins I lost touch with ages ago on Facebook, and found out about new family members through the site, so it does have some positive points too.
I used to love visiting the Railway Museum, but after my last visit I would not be so keen to go again. I wanted to have a good look at the big Chinese KF7 but this exhibit was partially cordoned off to make way for a damned play area complete with a pile of Lego. If museums must provide these facilities then they should do so in a separate area and not spoil the enjoyment of those who do not wish to look round a playroom.

If I could drive and I was buying something to drive then I would get an expensive motorhome and have a tour round Britain and then go over to the Continent and tour there.

Would you have to buy a car? I don’t drive but there are things I would like if money were no object.
1. A nice detached house away from noisy neighbours.
2. A good long holiday, visiting all the places I’d love to see but currently can’t afford to visit.
3. An Iceland horse.
4. A railway carriage. I have seen articles about people who have transformed old railway carriages into holiday homes, and they look fun when they’re completed. If I couldn’t have a railway carriage then an aircraft would be good.
5. A water tower. I once went up to the top of a water tower in Belgium (Zeebrugge) and the views were superb. I thought it would be fun to own one and convert it into a hotel with a glass restaurant at the top so people could admire the views as they ate.

I know I will never get the job of my dreams, so I had no choice but to look at other things. All I ever wanted was to be a vet, I knew it would suit me as I spent all my spare time in school holidays and on weekends helping in a vet surgery (wiping tables, watching consultations and operations so I knew I could cope OK with the mess and the upsetting bits). I didn’t get to vet school so I had no choice but to look at other work areas.
My first couple of jobs were in big stores (which I won’t name on here). The first one was gross – five and six hours overtime a day, missed meals, no days off for nearly three weeks, problems getting taxis home. The second one I enjoyed alot more but it was only temporary for Christmas, after that we were all laid off (those who had been set on for Christmas) and never called back.
After that I went into admin-related work which I had mixed experiences of. The first couple of jobs I really loved, but they were only temporary. The last admin job I did (again temporary) was not so good, for various reasons. I also had a job in a fast food chain (which I will not name) which was appalling as they expected you to go and work at the other side of the country at very short notice. Now I am unemployed but I do regular voluntary work in a museum a few miles away, which I adore, but I know there is no prospect of paid work there. It gives me experience and keeps me busy.

It was a great day in Scarborough. I managed to get video of a Typhoon display, Red Arrows and BBMF Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane, which made me very happy as last time the Lancaster was supposed to come the display was cancelled due to technical problems.

Excellent! Love D-AIRX, that aircraft was on the MAN-MUC LH2501 last week, I’m hoping it’s on that route again on 2nd September 🙂
Excellent! I’m off to Munich for the first time in September, I hope I see some of the aircraft you photographed. 😀
Before we book our holiday we phone the cattery to make sure they can look after our cat on the dates we want, then we book the trip.
