The photos are great, and I’m glad to hear everyone had a good time.
I won’t be in London all day on the 31st August, I’ll be in the Docklands, close to LCY and I’ll be going there round about late afternoon, it’s really just an overnight stop before I fly out the next morning, but if I was in London for any length of time, LHR would have been great.
Forgive me if I’m a bit “distant” on here today, I just found out that my Grandad died during the night.
I can’t wait to see the reports and pictures of the meet, I really wish I could have been there. Anybody for a “spot-a-thon” at LCY on 31st August? That’s my next airport trip.
You echo my feelings exactly Pembo. I stayed in that hotel and used that shuttle minibus back in September 2001 when I flew from Manchester to Brussels. It is a terrible tragedy and my sympathy goes out to the injured and the bereaved.
Great photos Monster.
I have to say that I don’t think 737s look right with winglets.
Thank Frank as well, he’s the one who found the site for me.
Glad you like it, I was pleased to see that the Boeing 737s I had flown on with Sabena had been put back into service with other airlines.
You’re asking the right person Dartie 🙂
My Sabena Group has loads of Links, and Frank (frankvw) posted this one on:
http://users.skynet.be/fa091181/sabena/where-sabena.html
This provides the destinations for the aircraft registered to Sabena at the time they went bankrupt.
Great photos Ren Frew, I wish I lived within easy reach of a good airport, aircraft are my favourite subject for photo and video, but I only get chance to see them once or twice a year, it’s so good to see other people’s photos.
Why do market researchers ALWAYS approach me??
Why can’t you look in some shops without being accosted all the time? We have a bookshop near us, and the bloody owner never leaves you alone. “What are you looking for?”
“I’m just browsing.”
“Do you like fiction or non-fiction?”
“I’m just looking. Really.”
“Whatever you like to read, we’ll have something for you.”
“I’m only looking.”
“Non fiction is over here.”
“What bit of “I’m only looking” don’t you bloody understand?????”
I was once at a dog show, looking through some prints of different dog breeds. The bloody stall holder wouldn’t leave me alone.
“What’s your favourite breed?”
“I’m just looking at the pictures.”
“What breed are you looking for?”
“I’m not, I’m just looking at the pictures like I said.”
“What’s your breed? If you tell me, I can tell you if it’s in stock.”
“I AM NOT LOOKING FOR ANY PARTICULAR BREED YOU ******!”

Thank you Edmund Halley, you have just displayed my Sabena Group home page photo!! I don’t mind, I like the photo. It dates from around early 2001, one of the members of my Yahoo Group added it to my Group album in March 2001. It is taken from the Belgian television station RTBF (I don’t know what the letters stand for, but it’s the Belgian French language television station). It’s from a news report, probably about the financial difficulties the airline was in at the time, but I’m not 100% sure about that. I just like the way the Airbuses are flying in formation, and it does bring back many memories of a great airline.
In Broo-ad Yorksher (Broad Yorkshire) we might say
“ah ta all reyt?” (literally “are you all right?”, the “reyt” would rhyme with “eight”)

Hello again Christer!!
I just performed a search on Google (advanced search with terms “Richard Branson” and “Brompton”). It came up with quite a list, some are dead links, some are not as good. Here are three to get you started.

I’m having a few problems with the top one, but it was ok in Google.
The sole survivor of the crash is a small child (age unknown), who is reported to be doing well in hospital. My sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and I hope the child makes a full recovery.
I’m onto it Christer, I want some photos of it too. I’ll get back when I’ve found something.
