RE: Anyone from Nijmegen?
Dutchy – only posting the names of a few Dutch beers that I know, it’ll be easier to get those beers in Holland than it is here. As for the Belgian types, I don’t know if Dutch bars sell them or not, they were suggestions more than anything:-)
RE: Belgian Ardennes
Hello, thanks for the replies. Geforce – Namur is listed in the Ardennes section of my Belgian brochure, someone is wrong putting the brochure together! All the tour guides in England just relate to Brussels, Brugge, Gent and Antwerp, there is nothing much about the Ardennes in any of them. I will take note of all the place names and see how I can best get there by train from Brugge (I don’t mind changing trains anywhere just as long as I can get there in good time).
RE: Anyone from Nijmegen?
Beer – Oranjeboom, Grolsch, La Trappe (quite a strong one at around 9% if you go for the Tripel), Heineken, any Belgian types you can find (Sloeber is heavenly, but avoid Orval and Duvel as they don’t taste like beer at all but more like sick).
RE: The true beer for life
Great Dutchy, I like Grolsch, though not as much as Oranjeboom, unless that’s just because I can’t get Oranjeboom any more. All this beer talk is making me thirsty and I’m stuck in college waiting to hand in my “thesis”.
RE: Beer of next Week
Thanks for the Australian beers, apart from Foster and Castlemaine XXXX, they are almost impossible to get over here. I did once find a Tasmanian beer called “James Boag” in a shop in Knaresborough, where I do my beer shopping, but I’ve only seen it once, and it is nice.
RE: Airliner World Flight Log Book
Everytime I’ve tried to post a flight in the log I get an error message. I’ve registered, and my log in name is accepted, but I cannot post a flight.
RE: Pic Of The Day-Sabena Fans!!
How wrong you are Hand!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVED SABENA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Super pic Kabir.
RE: Beer of next Week
My Saturday beer was Grolsch Herfst Bok, I made the mistake of assuming it would be a pils type and shoved it in the fridge for a 36 hour chilling. Only when I opened it did I realise it was a lovely dark beer which I had completely “killed” the taste of (like Leffe Brune, this Grolsch is totally ruined by chilling).
My Mum took the sensible option and had a Gulden Draak, which of course I know not to chill.
I am trying to find a decent picture of my favourite French beer to post, but no luck yet (its “1664”, never to be confused with “Kronenbourg 1664” which is brewed in the UK for the UK market and is not as strong as the proper French version).
RE: Breaking News — We’ll miss ya, Kenny
Agreed 100% Kelly, Kenny was the best in South Park.
RE: Beer of next Week
Very nice Ference!! Thanks for posting the pics, we could do with more folk posting beer pictures:-) (That beer is unavailable in my area, will have to look for it next time I’m in Europe)
RE: Beer of the Week
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-05-02 AT 09:47Â AM (GMT)]I love Oranjeboom Dazza, though I’ve never had to attempt to pronounce it as my local supermarket used to sell it, but doesn’t anymore. It’s a few years since I even saw this beer in a bottle, though I passed the brewery a couple of years ago on a bus through Holland. I’ve never heard of the Titanic Wreckage, but there are other beers out there which are damned near undrinkable (Orval from Belgium is one). I’d attempt to pronounce Oranjeboom probably, but a real “stinker” to say is “Hoegaarden”, I’ve never said it right yet.
Sorry that you don’t like Oranjeboom Ference, though I will post other Dutch types when I can get the pictures 🙂
RE: Elections in France #2
It’s probably a case of the British media exaggerating as usual (about the election problems). I think they’re doing that because we’re expecting election problems of our own on Thursday (today in fact).
RE: just 12…
When I complete my three year degree course this year, I will have had 15 years of education, though not consecutive years.
From 5-16 I was in mainstream education (primary and comprehensive school). From 16-18 I was in sixth form college for A levels (university entrance exams). From 29-32 I was (and shall be until June) at “university” (I can’t think of this useless dump as a university, the course is a load of crap but it’s better than being out of work).
RE: Elections in France #2
I’m quite concerned about the violence in Paris surrounding these elections. Will this all have died down in June? I certainly hope so because I will be in Paris then and I would hate to be caught up in anything nasty.
