can somebody please tell me what does the “K” means on Mig-29″K”?
i think is maritime or naval in russian but…what exactly is that russian word?
thanks a million 🙂
Camaro.
Does the FAP use older MiG-29As? If so are there plans to upgrade them?
no brother, all fulcrums in FAP service are Fulcrum-C (9-13)
3 of them are “SE” (new bought from russia) and the rest are “S” wich were bought used from Belarus.
one example of the Belarus batch is 037 wich you can see on the second pic climbing on afterburner (my favorite Mig-29 pic EVER 😎 )
Mr: Cris Lofting, wherever you are thanks for such beautiful pics 😉
alexander saludos paisano 😀
thanks for the pics y estudia tu ingles, te va a servir 😉
Camaro
sorry dude
your first Mirage looks more like a B-767 to me… 😀
still nice pic and the other 2 Mirages, a beauty 😎
good job bro 😉
Camaro
[QUOTE=Spectral]But you still have two missiles, MICA EM ( is that how it’s called ? the ARH one ) and MICA IR.
that is correct my friend, lets say…2 versions of the SAME missile, to be more precise.
1- the MICA EM= Electro-Magnetique (=radar)
2- MICA IR+ Infra-Rouge
in fact i believe the only diff is the seeker, being the rest of the missile the same part number, or identical and interchangeable.
it would make a lot of sense 😉
Camaro.
I vote for the Peruvian camo. Is really cool. 🙂
you got it baby 😀
this is 4-U A-29 brother, courtesy of my good old dude Cesar…”el maestro”
i hope you like it.
Camaro
my dear troung 😀
that pointy thingy 😀 on the nose of the M2k-C is called “pitot tube”
in the case of the RDY equipped -5 it did interfere with the radar, so they did re-locate the pitot tube, somewhere along the front fuselage
just that brother. :p
so in short…if you see no pitot tube on the radome, for sure is a -5 🙂
Camaro.
lets remember that the RDY has its roots on the RDI/RDM radars, it actually has the best of both worlds
and about MICA, they have proven it by using the RDM equiped M2k at Cazoux for the whole MICA program, which included 90+ firings, many of them at long range…
so the posibility for datalink/MICA on the RDI is there and is real 😉
and the french idea behind MICA is to be a single weapon that does “everything” instead of the most known combos such as:
R-73/R-77, Amraam/AIM9, Python/Derby, etc etc etc.
of course, besides other needed toys (HMD for example) with the RDY upgrade, FAB will go if not to the TOP…very close to it 😎
as bellas garottas do Brasil 😀
Camaro.
mais oui mon cher malandro, le Mirage deux-mille, C-est un superb avion 😎
et aussi dote d’une grand beaute comme les femmes 😉
well, as we said so, the M2k/RDI will be a killer combo once the MICA upgrade is done, and if the HMD is also added… 😮
lets consider that the MICA can also be easily integrated to the F-5BR and in time, Brasilian hi-tech guys could produce their own MICA’s 😉
congratulations
Camaro.
dear hammer
many people around in Brasil and Southamerica in general, had hopes for the Su-35 to win, but we all know as well, that politics and politicians are DIRTY as hell (worldwide), you know, they know nothing about airplanes 😡
bon dia meu CE 😀
our good friend Flex Two-Niner-Seven has precissely said so.
our M2k-P still has the Monopulse RDM, works good for A2G, but i wouldnt put it on A2A in todays neighborhood 😮 it scares me :p
and, yes, the Armee de L’Air did a mod on the 2 seatter, RDM equiped M2k-B based at Cazoux for the MICA experiment, so, clear, it is possible to mod the RDI to “fire and forget” MICA’s
to finish, there are no MICA’s in Peru 🙁 very sad but true.
you know, this “thing” with the French, SOOOOO EXPENSIVE 😮
Brasiiiiil, meu pais tropicaaaaal 😎
Camaro (o mais bello carro do mondo)
According to the french magazine Air & Cosmos, Brazil would have decided to accept the french proposal for 16 (14 single seater + 2 two seater) mirage 2000C/B rdi with some upgrades (they don’t specify what are those upgrades though)
The contract would be expected to be signed the 14th of july during the Visit of the president Luiz da Silva in Paris.
good news, for FAB, congratilations 😉
now lets see…M2k-C/RDI/MICA, that’s something to be taken seriously 😎
i hope they do, ’cause i dont thrust R-530 nor any of the kind in todays electronic world
i wish somebody would disagree and show how.
please CE, tell FAB’s boys to go for MICA 😀 (it is possible to integrate to the RDI, no doubt about)
Camaro.
Trident, my man 😎
thanks a million, great pics, i’m happy as hell 😀
nonpilot, for example, 037 is “S” and 048 is “SE”
Camaro.
you mean the super 530D I think 🙂
I agree, what about a few pythons 4 and some Israeli HMD ?
hello kovy 🙂
yes, i dont think sidelobe guidance is that hard to jam or get away from (someway-somehow) as compared to datalink guidance (initial of course)
agreed on the P-4 DASH combo plus Amraam, but you know, this means mayor work to the RDI.
my point is that, even against the F-5 BR or Fach, for example, the M2k “as is” is in danger if it gets too close.
the M2k has the “potential” to be the most lethal weapon in the area, but the prices are allucinating high , say for example upgrading them to -5 or -9
you look at the price tags and run for the toilet 😀
anyway, i hope my Brasileiros brothers, do get the M2k and pump some iron into them 😎
Camaro (o carro mais lindo do mondo 🙂 )
it got as close as “DEFCON-2”
defcon-1 is “actual” nuclear war (in US terms), being defcon-5 the lowest level. (if i’m not mistaken 😉 )
Camaro.
i agree too 😎
one thing for sure, the old M2k-C “as is” is nice but its still behind a little, to me they will have to be given some better A2A systems if they are to be taken seriously, the RDI seems to be great for A2A, but we all know the limitations of the R-530 in todays world, Brasil and Argentina (it the deal works) should consider MICA or qeuivalent and something better than the Magic-2, they should get a good WVR missile with its associated HMD, the rest of their fleet can do A2G as they are now.
just an idea 😀
Camaro
the way US economy is going, i think they’d like to sell their products in every wich way, for example, the US just bought 35 EMB-145 platforms for the US Army electronic something thingy (R-99XX?), now as good businessmen they are, easy to say, ok bud, how about XX Amraams for ya” o better, Amraam/F-16?
anyway/anyhow, those systems do need spare parts for maintenance plus some upgrading and so, where the US economy can get a few millions back, as simple as that. 😉
unlike the russians who lack the business mind and got mad because Peru bought Migs from Belarus…
in this matter the US can beat Russia anytime 🙂
