    whatever it is…
i’ll pay to have a ride at the navigator station on the An-12, its got to be awesome.
as far as i know, the Herc has more range (slightly) but the An-12 is faster (slightly as well) i’ll have no problem to be in comand of either airplane.
let me see if i can find some more info.

i’d like to see what kinda hardware the FAP wil send, certainly i hope for the Mig-29, but i agree that the M2k is the most likelly, it surprised me to learn that the chilean air force, turned down the invitation.
good luck to all participants and…
may the force be with them all. πŸ˜‰

that is partially truth amigo meu malandriΓ±os.
the bielorusian examples were unable to fire R-77 because of the N-019 radars, only the russian Mig-29SE with the N-019M radar are, the rest …and here is were nobody knows… if the older N-019’s have been upgraded, AFM said about a year ago that it was done but that it wasnt easy and they (FAP) just dont talk about it, but to think “yes” is logical because it a matter of only few thousend dollars to upgrade each, compared to the 7 millions per aircraft on the M2000 to go from RDM to RDY:eek:
and yes, mr toledo is very unpopular, i dont think even his family likes him anymore πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

ok my dear 330, your facts are partially right, allow me please to clarify a few.
1-the Mi-8 and 24 were basically for the parts, but sure mr garcia (as bad as any comon theaf) made quite a few buks out of that, the canberras, sure they didnt pay a lot for them, to me there’s no more use for them in the region, but who knows?
the An-26 were bought in the 70’s and were new, latter in the 80’s it was decided that the An-32 was the better one, so they returned the 26’s back as a down payment for bright spanking new An-32’s (25 total i believe), the latter ones in the 90’s were used (2 or 3) and sure some more SOB’s made a few buks too.
Mi-8’s crashing, that is not news, many had and will keep crashing for whatever reason, as well as blackhawks and pumas and so on…old or new.(see AFM atrition)
the history of the M2000 started with the president before, mr. belaunde, who was another one similar to garcia, only less preposterous, he being hoplessly devoted pro-yank and pro west didnt wanted anything to do with the russians and so he decided in favor of the M2000, about 32 of them, then mr. garcia came and cut the deal short, to 12 machines without weapons, arguing that there will be no need for them, and started cutting in the armed forces like crazy in the meantime filling his pockets with money diverted into other things like making the state grow so much, to the point of “unsustainable”.( now you can laugh…he’s running for president again )
the Mig-29 (9-13) were bought from bielorus, due to the fact that the us decided to bann any weapons sale to the region until things cool down, the cenepa war was in 1995 and by 1998 (when the Migs got there) there was still the serious posibility of an allout war between ecuador and peru and the FAP (peru) didnt have no air superiority whatsoever over ecuador and clashes between the 2 armies were frequent.
the R-77’s came with the NEW Mig-29SE bought directly from russia (x3 a/c, year 2000) in exchange for maintenance and parts for the whole Mig fleet.
(the SE has the N-019M radar) so is capable of launching the R-77, the next goal was to upgrade the other radars (on the bielorus examples) to the same standard or M1, they are in good shape, but you must consider the other security meassures such as…cam and concealment, information and dissinformation as the reasons for such a contradictory reports, NOTE that FAP is doin’ nothing to clarify, they like it as it is.
as for the size of the air arm…you’re right, out of 6 hercs, only flies 1, out of 25 An-32 only flies 1 and so on and on and on, the rest is known by everybody
another reason to choose from bielorus and not ucraine nor russia
1-ucraine- i have these aircraft, take it or leave it
2-bielorus- they are on the flight line, choose whichever you want
3russia- forget it, at the time the us said NO you dont sell to them, and so they complied.
    capisci?
i hope this makes things clearer for everybody, one thing is for sure, corruption overthere has reached extraordinary levels, even now, their president mr. toledo has raised his salary to 18000 us dollars a month and 11000 for his wife, he did right after coming to power, people overthere is not happy at all:confused:
    bonne chance a tous..

    dear BME330,
    that pic of yours …
seems to be a chilean falcon followed by ecuatorian kfirs…
    nice pic.
about the catastrophic peruvians, lets put things clear, maintenance is one thing, budget is another, what happened to them was…
no money = no parts = no flying…period!
there was a publication on air forces monthly called peruvian fitters unveiled, it explains clearly what happened to them.:o

the only 2 countrys in the region that have AEW are brazil and chile, no one else does.
chileans claim it can see 400kms far and to be capable of some elint.
last air combats in the region were between peru and ecuator, being the FAE (ecuator) the clear winner, the peruvian air force being neglected for many years previous to the cenepa valley war, paid the heavy price by losing not only few aircraft but most important, the air superiority at the time.

how can people do that to an airplane?
    its soooo sad:mad:
you should see the tears in my eyes when we started scrapping the old L-1011, here in montreal, i’ve witnesed about 5 already, and everytime it did hurt my heart like being stabbed right into.
still we have 1 -500 now waiting for his sad fate…
    c-est la vie.
tell me vicky 10, were you a passenger or a crew member on the mighty VC10?

    to Vicky 10…
it took 10 hours total, but also must be considered that we were loaded with passengers and cargo, the whole 9 yards, the hardest was trying not to fall asleep during the approach and landing, no amount of cofee would do, what kept me awake was the turbulence left over from the storm, shook like hell, but nothing to worry about on the L-1011.
by the way an RAF VC-10 (XV 105) has spent the night at CYMX (montreal-mirabel international) what a pretty sight, i would fly that babe for free, πŸ˜€

i remember talking with a USAF F-15 pilot on an airshow.
i’ve asked him about facing a dogfight with an F-16, his answer?
if the F-16 is fully loaded (plenums on, say bombs external fuel etc) i’ll eat him alive, BUT if he’s light (say sidewinders or just his cannon), i’ll just go up vertical and escape, he’ll have to catch me first.
so the conclusion is obvious. that explains the J-10 beating a Su-27, what i’d like to see is:
    J-10 / F-16 or
    J-10 / Mig-29
    J-10 / Rafale
    J-10 / Typhoon
that will say a lot to me.
