Hi Jochen,
Mailed you the contact adress for the S58! Is it possible to camp at W&W?
BW Roger
There is quite some Stirling material in Holland. I’ll post some shots later of the remains on show in my local museum. BW Roger
There is an almost complete (original) one in storage in Holland. Unfortunatly, it is in open storage, which don’t makes me very happy. BW Roger
Great project Cees! Was impressed when I visited the museum and saw how big this machine must have been, as only the recreated section already filled the room. BW Roger
A book on the first generations of fire/borate bombers (especily the TBM3) would be nice while an article on the Indonesian Airforce Super Constellations with pics (never seen a shot of any of the 3) is also on my wishlist. BW Roger
Thanks Albert, great looking in the Sabena colours. Living near Valkenburg NAS I have lot’s om memories of MLD S58’s overflying my school. Unfortunatly, Valkenburg was closed today as a certain minister of defence thought it was useless. So he closed the base and sold the Orions (which are undergoing a 250.000.000 Euro updating program to the Germans with a gigantic loss.
Jochen, I can give you the S58 contact if you want. Isn’t the date the same as Sanicolle and Schaffen Diest? Don’t mind the first but do mind the second.
BW Roger
As can be seen, it is still showing its past as it is fitted with passenger doors. I understand that the chopper still carries passengers during airshow joyflights. So Jochen, isn’t this another candidate for a certain mid August event? Blend in well with all the other olive drab things there. Its HEER livery is due to its roll in a movie. Yesterday they were shooting some scenes, and thats how I scored it.
Anyone has a pic of it as OO-SHL???????
BW Roger
Got a 1D now Rob. BW Roger
Tonight it passes through (the) Amsterdam (canals) and I guess it takes a nightstop behind the Central Station ( which might be interested to take pics with all those junks, prostitutes and other “interesting” persons around. Thought of gong there but don’t want to take the risk. At the Aviodrome site the entire route can be seen.
And Jochen, from spring on, it will be possible to make passenger flights in the F27. By the way, I bought my “new” one, but only shot the F27 with it. For the night shots it was too complicate (I only bought it tuesday night), so they are all 10D on 800 iso.
And yes, this one received its SUD by Boeing after many years of operating with the classic UD.
BW Roger
It left via the old Fokker factory, which is now a Business Park, and that’s what the sign said. By the way, earlier that day, the first production f27, and the oldest one still flying arrived at lelystad. Everybody was at the 747, so this arrival went fully unnoticed. It will be overhauled and be operated out of the Aviodrome next year. Here it is yesterday. BW Roger
Hi David,
There is one there on the parade grounds, together with a T6 and a silver Saeta. Without permission to enter the base, it can’t be seen. Best place to score them is Madrid, with 8 around. Go there again first weekend of March or April. BW Roger
Oke, here are some. Shot in Holland, Belgium and Spain. BW Roger
Hi Cees,
I know somebody who uses a former MLD TBM 3W2 radome in his garden as a pond. He don’t want to part from it. Not so long ago, near Ypenburg in a volkstuintjescomplex canopies were/are used as small greenhouses.
BW Roger
Can’t say much about it, but give it another 5 years, and one will be seen in the Spanish skies again. Hopefully in the all blue livery (but as I am not the owner my influence on that is very small). Where it comes from or better said “they” as it is an incomplete hybride, well let’s say that Spain is very big. Already said to much. BW Roger
Hi Jochen,
I’ll go there (the museum, FIO rehearsel/ramp/apron day and FIO show) 2 or 3 times a year, most of the time with some other aviation enthousiasts and photographers, so if you want to join in 2005!
Here are some additional shots taken at both the museum and the FIO.
The “deal” is still on?
BW Roger
