Read the D.A. P47G tread above and you have most of the answers. BW Roger
On the story that there were 2 containers at Lelystad, I can confirm that this isn’t the case (any more??). BW Roger
Normally, the machine isn’t turning its prop. However on special occasions, and I was there for a photoshoot, they fired it up. Don’t know if they ever do it again. I just asked and they did, so maybe they also make it turn for others. BW Roger
that’s why I wrote “Spitfire”. The problem remains the same however, why not paint it properly? BW Roger
Compare it to this one, also 322 SQ, same period. BW Roger
One of the prblems is that I am from Holland, and I paid some 40% less than what I should have paid here. Don’t cross the Channel too often, so I am quite happy with it. Bought the Liberator (Dragon), the NASA B52, Apollo 11 Sea King and the TU-4 . It is time to seell some more pics, as there are stil some models I am interested in.BW Roger
Thanks for introducing me to that Corgi heritage link. Just costed me 187 P.St. (bought 4 aircraft)
Hope they don’t find out here at home:D 😀 😀 😀

Count me in. BW Roger (never used a disposable anyway).
Snapper, the next flight was at 18.30 or so, from Maastricht, which is another 100 miles to the south. What’s the use of taking that, paying a small fortune for it, and missing the entire day at North Weald and arriving there at 20.30 in the evening. Apart from that, I was totally fed up with the entire situation.
Good luck with your flight to Belgium. And be warned for 2 things. At first they weight everything, luggage and hand/camerabags, and you pay around 4 P.St for every kilo too much ( I in my wisdom brought my 300 F2.8 with me, aswell as 3 bodies and 4 other lenses), and the security has a great interest in cameragear, especiallly the lenses. They want to look through it, which is fine, but then they dropped the big one instead of my warnings that it was heavy. I catched it just before it hit the ground. I wonder if they are insured for cases like that. Guess not!

Yes, Ryanair it was. BW Roger
I am collecting militaria for almost 25 years, and prices are getting higher and higher by the month now. However, overhere in Holland and Belgium, especially the German ones are skyhigh now, even when 80% of those are fake. My German collection is more or less complete due to the fact that my late father started to collect these as soon as 1946. I am now trying to get also the 1957 version of all these medals. English ones are not so in demand, and they are much cheaper than what you pay. Bought an African Star for around 2 P.St. 3 months ago, a Croix de Guerre WW1 or 4 P.St and a CdG WW2 for 5 P.St.(all are original). I am still searching for a Vichey CdG. Much rarer but not inpossible. BW Roger
Thanks Woundslinger and T5, some more info on the FlyPast forum. Had to post that there also as I made apointments with some of the guys overthere to meet at North Weald today. BW Roger
I agree with you that it is looting David, but it is going to happen anyhow. They either destroy all aircraft, or they bring “home” some, and destroy the rest. Can’t see anything else happen.

PS. Do you know if the S-11 is coming to NW this weekend?
A MiG-25 is something special. A MACH 3 machine like this deserves a place in a museum. Apart from this, it is a rare machine, only one can be found preserved in “the West”. BW Roger
Thanks Alastair. They are going to take it apart this weekend. Won’t be there as I fly to North Weald tomorrow (or better, I am just onboard a Ryanair 737 as a passenger) for the FlyPast fly-in. On Thursday I am in the museum and hopefully the more technical members can tell what is missing or broken. I’ll be in contact with you then on the emailnumber you gave me. Found out yesterday that the machine has been used for 50 years to tug boats in and out of the Northsea here in Holland, so it must be that there is a lot of salt water damage.
Thanks again, I’ll be in contact next week.
